it could be a lethal partnership with suarez... but carroll is a major panic buy. he is worth about £18m if that.

what nando has done to us so late in the window is shocking. personally im gutted. i would never place a bid any more than £25m for andy carroll even that is crazy money. reports carroll has handed in a transfer request now, if this had all happened earlier we could have got him much cheaper. i would never pay that kind of money for him and i'd just tell nando and chelsea its too late in the month and the deal is off.

we spend the mjority of the window haggling at around £12.5m for a proven goalscorer on the world stage and then throw in a bid for andy carroll at £35m. its messed up. still can't get my head around it.

Whilst £35m is way over priced we need more than one striker to push on this season. I love the way people are saying he is a brute and has no technical ability, or that we need wingers to get the ball to him. To those I make these points
1) Have you watched Carroll over a period of time rather than just a few games on Sky this season? He has good positioning sense, great finishing ability and is stronger than any striker we have had for years.
2) For those who say we need wingers: Over the past season and a half I have seen him score some good goals created by runs he makes and passes from centre mid. However as Glen and Kelly have shown in the past three weeks both can get down the wing a deliver (Kelly has to improve his final ball though). By having 3 central mids this causes us to flood the box and creates a marking nightmare for defenders. One which someone like Carroll and Suarez shoud exploit. I quote Kevin Keegan: "he (Carroll) is probably in the top three headers of a ball I have ever seen in football.
3) For people saying we should have waited until the summer I say this: When Suarez is injured, rested or off form who do we play?

We need a striker and one who can also play in Europe THIS season. Kenny will have one eye on finishing in the top 4 I'll bet you that.
4) We are building for the future not just for this season and we have no idea of who will come in during the summer. If it is players who will compliment both Suarez and Carroll and we regain CL qualification, or even put a title bid together it may well be £35m well spent.
