Just been down the paper shop and read all the back pages. There seems to be a good consensus Torres is on his way to Chelsea with more than one suggesting £45m plus Anelka. Plus that dovetails with what the experts where saying on Soccer Saturday. So there might be something in it. If true I think that’s a great deal and a piece of good fortune for us. Torres is a great player make no mistake about that but his heart is not in it plus he is a bit injury prone. Also the squad is unbalanced we have a few star players and then a lot of mediocrity. So £45m plus the normal budget plus whatever NESV are going to inject will give us a healthy transfer budget for next year just at the right time, the timing is excellent. If he were to go in the summer there would be uncertainty now we have the cash we can search out carefully the right targets for the summer. And there is a lot of work to be done in defence and midfield now but I think Suraez and Anelka will blend very well up front. Other clubs will know we have the cash but that’s Commoli’s job. So all round looking good but we must have a new ground (NESV take note) as without it all this is a waste of time,

annelka is passed it we should of signed him when we had him on loan if chelsea want torres that bad lets get 40mil and ashley cole we need a left back then lets see how chelsea like it.

60 million feck they're average overpaid players lets just get the most money possible and buy some new players in the summer and build a real good team

I'd take 50 plus Anelka...try and do something before the window closes...doesn't give us long but deals can be done quickly these days.

I agree 50mill plus Anelka is about the best we can hope for in this situation, then in the summer try and buy Benzema. Oh and we have just bought Suarez who i think well do well.

Just reading about Torres in the mail on sunday. Aparently he is a bit aloof with other teammates and had issues with the Spanish national manager who made him warm up for an hour in the world cup to teach himn a lession. Both Rafa and Hodgson had issues with him and the opta stats in the first half of this season were pretty ropey.

Possible problem with that is the financial fair play rules kick in. From next year, we can't spend much more than our income. If we were planning to spend that sort of amount to rebuild the squad anyway, we can't spend that £45m without our expenditure exceeding our income, resulting in us being barred from European competition in 2013/14.
