No, not just you - like the wikipedia article says, "Nonce first came into widespread use in UK prisons, where it is primarily used by prisoners to refer to convicted sex offenders, especially abusers of children."

Wikipedia isn't always right of course, but I can confirm that's true (my Dad was a prison officer).

I was surprised to hear someone had called Rafa a nonce. Also surprised to hear it was used to mean anything other than sex offender, I didn't know any other usage myself.

its funny cos i would say a higher proportion of radio djs are on the margins of normality than football managers. Can't remember his name but there was a dj recently sacked over sending pics of his knob to female listeners. Although you have to forgive djs sometimes for having delusions of grandeur and self importance and soemtimes are just sounding off or picking on scapegoats, to call a successful manager football or otherwise demeaning names whether in jest or not just makes the person look stupid and as someone on here has already said the dj kelly or whatver his name is is the one who has a photo ressembling a 'nonce'
