Liverpool defender Kelly reveals early Clark impact
23.01.11 | tribalfootball.com

Liverpool defender Martin Kelly admits new assistant manager Steve Clarke is already having a big impact.

The former Chelsea coach only moved to Anfield last week.

"Steve's been brilliant and is taking some great sessions," Kelly told liverpoolfc.tv.

"It's fantastic and we are all enjoying ourselves. The training sessions are really competitive and everyone is enjoying it.

"I can learn a lot from Steve. He gets involved like Kenny does and it's always good to learn from an experienced former player like him."

We're talking about 30-40 passes that led to a goal. In an AWAY game. When was the last time we did that? When Rushie was here?

It's not the goal. It's the movement, off-the-ball support, players calling for each other, one-touch movement, pass and move. That's class and that's what we have been yearning out for. When we finally get it people say it's not worth a mention.

This goal will definitely bring hoards of confidence to the squad and the belief that they can pass like Arsenal too. I'm sure Torres would be happy to top off a collective team effort with a goal.

I was chaffed when I saw the build-up and still am!

i agree. almost brought a tear to my eye.

as i am a relative wipper-snapper i have never seen this LFC pass and move in the flesh read many things watched the odd tape from the old days but watching the goal was incredible if we pass and move like that then we have and outside chance of top 4 but feck all that, thats for another day

but i am now starting to understand why he is king

king kenny for the job full-time also love his interviews after the game when he said (talking about transfers) "i know whats going on but i don't have to tell you!"

No disrespect to Wolves but they were Wolves who were already 2-0 down and wanted to attack more than defend.

Like I say, it is still early days but a positive step in the right direction.

Off to a good start. The team should learn to keep the ball though when leading, the 2nd half become largely defensive training. The more posession you allow your opponents, the more chances they will have of scoring - law of averages. Team also need to work on counter attacks. There seemed to be no game plan for that, the counter attacks had no direction. Plenty of stuff yet to do on the training field. That said, we can only get better with Stevie and Carra coming back. Kenny is an awesome manager and we always had the players to get results like this.

You cant counter attack when you have no pace to work with. We are severely lacking pace in all areas

Point taken. I am glad we won so convincingly. So much was riding on this game. Player confidence, manager confidence, league standing even players we are chasing might be looking at us more positively now.
