And if he was we move on to the next target. Need to get it sorted before Wednesday though or we'll end up with nothing.

a bbc reporter just mentioned on their live feed that liverpool will take stephen warnock on loan with a view to a permenant move in the summer. I think he is not one of these big names but still quite a good left back and an improvement on what we have so i see this as a good move.

Dirk Kuyt says *Liverpool must buy Luis Suarez to give the frontline more quality.

The Holland international knows that Suarez is the prime target for manager Kenny *Dalglish and believes the Ajax and Uruguay star will solve the Reds’ goal-scoring problems.

Kuyt said: “In our attack we really need a quality injection. Only then I can see us climbing up again.

“We don’t have enough power and options up front right now.”

Kuyt has revealed that the new training methods and style of Kenny Dalglish and new head coach Steve Clarke are loved by the players.

Kuyt: “It comes close to the Dutch style. *Playing with early pressure on the opponents and a passing game with the ball low on the ground. Not all those long balls anymore.

“Dalglish and Clarke have this *vision: if you have Torres and Gerrard in the team, we will be stronger against 80 per cent of the *opponents when we put the *pressure on them in their own half.”

The combination of *Dalglish and Clarke is a *really good one. Clarke has come in from outside the club.

He has the same role as he had earlier with Mourinho at Chelsea. Under Clarke we now do totally different training sessions. We do a lot of positional play in small spaces.

“And while Clarke is *doing sessions with us, Dalglish will talk all the stress away from the players.

“He is a living legend here. He has the charisma, the experience and the *confidence to create peace. He also has a fabulous *connection with the fans. They love him here.

“I could not believe it the first time he went out on the pitch against Everton, eleven years since he last coached a team.

“The noise at Anfield was incredible. With Dalglish the atmosphere at the club is changing.” And Kuyt, who could have forced a move to Inter *Milan last summer, is *committed to the Anfield cause.

He ended: “I intend to stay now. In the summer Inter came to me to find out if I wanted to move.

“The board of Liverpool took a strong attitude *towards them. They did not want me to go because I was one of the five most *important players for the team.’’

“In my talks with the new board I feel the same kind of trust in me.

“So in return I want to show my loyalty to the club in these difficult times.”

Good lad Kuyt. Interesting what he says about training sessions. Early pressure on our opponents, high pressing in their half, short passing, positional drills. That's a lot better, and more like the Liverpool of old.

Ajax tell Liverpool to hurry up on Suarez
ESPN staff
January 22, 2011

Ajax have warned Liverpool to pick up the pace if they want to complete a deal to sign striker Luis Suarez this month.

The Premier League club, who beat Wolves 3-0 on Saturday, have publicly declared the Uruguay international is one of their top transfer targets in the January window, with negotiations between the two clubs believed to have already begun.

But, with the transfer deadline less than ten days away, Ajax manager Frank de Boer has warned that the Eredivisie club will be increasingly reluctant to sell the later it gets in the month - as they will then have even less time to secure a replacement.

However, De Boer seemed to acknowledge the club are currently willing to offload the 23-year-old - who turns 24 on Monday - as he confirmed they have already identified who they want to bring in if Suarez does indeed depart.

"We won't let Luis go on January 31 at 23.55. It is logical and a deal which I made with [general director of Ajax] Rik van den Boog," De Boer told De Telegraaf. "To replace Suarez will be difficult, but we are ready. We have a Plan B, we know what we want if he leaves."

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish refused to comment on speculation about Suarez or claims the club have had a £4 million bid for Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam turned down, but admitted he is keen to strengthen the squad.

"The owners are very supportive and we can bring players in if we find them but the most important thing is to bring in players who can improve us,'' said the Reds boss. "Also we have a huge responsibility to do it responsibly. We are not going to comment on any individual player at any club, we prefer to tell you when we have got something to tell you. I don't think it is fair for us to comment on what is going on or speculate.

"We can bring players in if we want to and it does not depend on people going out. There is no sum of money because that would be stupid but if we need something then it is there.''

Stoke City's Eidur Gudjohnsen and Heerenveen's Bas Dost are two names that have been linked with Ajax as possible replacements for Suarez.

Above all, I would like to be remembered as a man who was selfless, who strove and worried so that others could share the glory, and who built up a family of people who could hold their heads up high and say

'We're Liverpool'.
