Xabi alonso had 2 good seasons at Liverpool, he was average the other 2. Rafa got the best out of alonso in his last season. Trying to sell him in the summer ultimately got fire in the belly of alonso and he had his best season with us.

I'm not saying he's not better than we have but if you can only produce your best after a falling out with the manager and you know you will be sold then is that good for us?

I personaly think Alonso having two good seasons is a myth, I think just because he never caught the eye with last ditch tackles like Mascherano or scoring spectacular goals like Gerrard and Torres does'nt mean he was'nt playing well. Xabi Alonso just being on the pitch dictating the tempo of the game, calming things down and not wasting possession are qualities a lot of people fail to recognise. Xabi Alonso was Liverpool's most important player during his time at the Club which was shown by how much we fell apart when he left.

He had a few injuries especial the ankle break in first 2 seasons so was disjointed, then you have to consider getting used to league and the fact the squad gradualy improved over the 4 years.
So harsh to say he had 2 average years, but only thing can defo say is the last season he stepped his game up
Upcoming world class players IMO for 2014 WORLD CUP: K-P Boateng, Gotze, Sturridge, Kroos, Lucas Leiva, Hummels, Kyriakos Papadopoulos,

I suppose if people say Alonso had two good seasons the same must apply to Torres after his first two...

I thought Gerrard had the best passing range until i saw this guy. Fantastic range of passing and at pace aswell. Sorely missed.

Lets forget about this guy. He was a fulcrum in our play but he has moved on. So should we. Having lived in the Basque (and i mean no disrespect to our Spanish fans)region, he developed a keen sense of pride and stubbornness. He needed an arm around him which was not in Rafa nature.
He made his name for himself with us. Thanks Alonso

He still attends our games when he can, still loves the club no doubt. But he's 1st team for Real, and Mourinho said Xabi is the one he'd never take out the side, he's that important to controlling the teams play. So it will never happen.
Maybe when he's 35 and washed up and we are in the championship we'd have a chance of getting him lol Sorry, but if he truly loved the club he would not have left. He would have made his peace with Rafa somehow, not gone out and proved he was a better player than the manager (and the fans) thought and then left to go play in a league where there are only two clubs. He can rot in Spain along with Mascherano and however else thought they were (are) bigger than Liverpool FC. what a load of sh1te , he was forced out by mr benitez i know personally he never wanted to leave liverpool would have easily stayed if the mr benitez hadn't had wanted the great(NOT)gareth barry to replace him because of personal grudges which mr benitez had loads of and still does.
