Would have picked Kelly over Johnson at the start of the season purely because Johnson can't defend, would not dream of starting Johnson now given how confident Kelly looked going forward vs Man U. This week is a bit different - 3 tough games in 7 days means he may need to be rested vs Blackpool, because he's the second name on the team sheet vs Everton (after Reina).

I think that Johnson needs to get used to the idea of trying to become a Bale on the right, or face the prospect of being a backup RB for the rest of the season. I hope Kenny can do that. Like Stevie, Glen needs to be played in a position where he doesn't need to defend.

EDIT: some say Johnson won't move further up the pitch for fear of losing his place in the England squad. Frankly he's not worth his place in the England squad anymore because his Liverpool team mate should start there too.

Agreed....Johnson shouldn't be in the England squad as a defender because he can't defend!!

I think the only reason Johnson is in the england squad is because he contributes something going forward similar to what A. Cole does on the left. Other than that, I don't see him ever making it because he cant defend against a 12 year old.

Kelly will start tonight because Johnson has "family issues" i reckon Johnson could be on his way out of Anfield if im honest.

His missus is due to drop any second that is why he is not playing.
