? Your inability with English is what is stinking up this forum. If you can't read more than 5 sentences how can you criticize a post that is clearly beyond your capacity to comprehend?
Where did I compare Mascherano to Meireles? Oh, I see, because I used the word "replacement" when you think the latter replaced the former, when in fact he didn't. Meireles is on a par with Aquilani - decent CM. Nothing fantastic, fewer goals and assists than the Italian in the same time on the pitch, but given time could be an asset. Just like Aquilani, but the Hodgson brigade isn't interested in giving anyone other than Hodgson more time. You're distracted by the Union Jack between you and the iceberg.
And since Aqua replaced Alonso, technically the person to compare Meireles with to see whether he is really a good player in the side would be Alonso. Not Mascherano who partnered the Spaniard. Lucas takes Mascerano's deeper DM role, but you don't understand football so explaining this point is wasting my breath. It's easier to explain things to children.
I think the fact that Meireles has spent time with us playing RM, in the hole, and CM, should clearly demonstrate that he is an attacking player, and therefore replaced an attacking player to get into the team (Aquilani). Since Macherano spent most of his time playing DM or RB, it should be fairly obvious that he is a defensive player, and therefore cannot be replaced by an attacking player - unless you intend to using aggressive ATTACKING tactics. Roy's 9-0-1 is not an attacking formation, by the way, just in case you weren't sure.
I agree that Meireles was bought with
money from the Mascherano sale; perhaps that is why you think he replaced him? If so, then Konchesky ALSO replaced Mascherano. And Poulsen and Jones replaced Benayoun, which was fantastic business by Roy, selling a player on the bench to buy 2 players not worthy to sit in the stadium.
