I actually disagree with that, ish.

It's not that I think that Rafa should come back no matter what, but if the new owners consider all the available options and decide Rafa is the best one, I don't think that would be that crazy. I wouldn't have a problem with that.

I think the point is more that those pining for Rafa's return should stop. He's out the door, and we need to move on. If the owners decide he's worth another shot, well, that's their decision, but until he's actually in the frame carrying on about him is pointless.

For my money I'd prefer Villas Boas to any of the candidates we have been linked with, Rafa included, though I would take any one of them over the current manager.

For me Rafa is a legend at the club, one of the greats. He did bring the champions league trophy back to anfield and got us back on track in europe.

But he failed domestically, and the last season he had was poor. He lost the dressing room, and the majority of fans.

To get him back now would be going backwards instead of trying to move forwards. And if Rafa came in now how could he help us, the team we are playing is what he signed except a couple of players.

I think Roy ain't good enough, but we have to give the man a chance to prove his worth, see who we sign in January.

A while ago, I posted that even Jose wouldn't have got us better results.

Rafa was on good terms with the owners when we came 2nd. So much has happened during the Hicks & Gillet reign, and i am sure Rafa has not revealed it all, that NO manager would have gotten us a good table ranking under this regime.

Getting 2nd was a damn good achievement. I just know that if he has the backing of the owners, Rafa will do well for us. History has shown that if the owners and Rafa are not on the same page, it will go tits up.

So please, everyone - before you slag Rafa, understand his working conditions.

I for one would only want him back if the owners can work with him and offer their full support. Because I believe he is an excellent manager who just needs the correct environment to succeed.

We all say he lost the dressing room - well i think its obvious those same players are no different today. Rafa didn't lose the dressing room - the overpaid players just lost the passion.

So before anyone slags him off for getting us in 7th place - think which manager would have gotten us better under Hicks & Gillet?

That way he could coach the team that Barcelona is trying to emulate for their style?

Not really, no.

Can you really see Rafa working for Venky's, the chicken farmers? When (reportedly) one of the problems with Allardyce was that he didn't like being told which players to sign by the owners?

Numerous managers would have been able to work with that squad and got us higher in the league. Our position came down to tactics, Substitutions, playing players out of position, lack of attacking idea's and of course starting lineups.

Its clear and simple Rafa is not our manager any more so stop talking about him, you don't hear spurs talking about Martin Jol, Arsenal about George Graham, United about Ron Atkinson and Chelsea about any of their million previous managers do you. They move on and think for the future, Rafa achieved what he did but right now its Hodgsons crap era, although I don't like it and never will I have to live with it
