And you know for a fact that Dossena was going to be a terrible player when Rafa signed him, or is that just your hindsight speaking louder than your wisdom?

I would get rid off Gerrard at the drop of a hat if it meant the return of our true manager.

I wouldn't. I'd keep Gerrard, and get Villas Boas. I'd sack Sammy Lee and get Thommo to stand in until Carra is ready for the dugout. I'd get Kenny to sit in on boot room meetings prior to every match with all the people I've mentioned in this post (except Sammy Lee, of course). I'd get Commolli to attend a few to make sure he's on the same wavelength as the managerial brainstrust.

And the whole lot of them would be in my office for a tongue lashing every time we drop points.

Were I the man on the ground in the position of power at LFC, that is.

thundyr! you realise your running the risk of certain persons saying your living in the past ! according to some on here we arnt allowed to think of the past, boot room? thats a risky suggestion we are asked to rid ourselves of heritage and soppy reminiscences of days gone by

Whether he is or isn't coming back won't make Stevie any less glum on xmas day, sad to say. We're 8th with an away game in hand that we appear likely to lose given current away form, and half the season is gone. If you look at how things have progressed thus far we aren't likely to get more than 55 points this season, and that's abysmal because it's not enough to make top 6, difficult season or otherwise. Last time we had that few was 1999 when we finished 7th (United won the title that year with 79 points, and that won't be far off the winner's points tally this season, I reckon). Point is that top 6 is looking a bridge too far unless we have a major turn-around in our away form, and this manager (Roy) is known throughout his career as a poor manager away from home.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't, eh emp?

I happen to believe that having a group of legends of the game discussing tactics with the manager can only be good for the club, provided the manager has the balls to ignore what he perceives as bad advice (and I suspect Villas Boas has that attribute because it's rare that people driven towards success fail to trust their instincts). I think the boot room philosophy is good for club continuity, and for ensuring that everyone from the top down "gets" Liverpool FC (something that I'm not sure anyone can argue [not successfully anyway] is part of the problem with the current manager).

There is only one manager. But a man from outside England will need to lean on the experience of those who have won titles with LFC, and who better than the King himself?

i agree! we must not allow our traditions to die! not only is it (bootroom) a unique philophasy it is a basic communication avenue that allows all to face eachother and thrash out plans and grievenses, but some on here dont think its "living with the times" wink

We have half a season to gain some credibility, it has to start with replacing the caretaker. The damage he is doing is way beyond every expectation. It has to stop.

Maybe we could slip this to John when he is next at a home game as a gentle hint with what to do with roy?
