Rafa is and always will be in the hearts of the Liverpool fans (except emp), what he has achieved at Liverpool is better than any manger at the club for over twenty years, however is he the answer for us at the moment, no

He didn't 'give us' the champions league, he was lucky to even make it to the final, Steven Gerrard saved him with a wonderstrike, just as he did in the FA cup final. As for the CL final 2007, Rafa lost that himself. Left Crouch on the bench, left Bellamy on the bench, didn't even have Fowler on the bench who could have been a match winner. Plays Kuyt up front by himself. And when chasing the game, his genius substitution was Arbeloa at right-back. Got his tactics wrong, got his lineup wrong, got his formation wrong, got his substituations wrong.
Now let's really talk about Rafa:
Wins nothing for 4 years (even with the best years of Gerrards career) alienates Alonso while wanting to replace him with Barry (!!) echoed the ridiculous substituations from the CL in the league (a right back on when needing to win the game) (Even resorted to taking Torres off when needing to win games which left Steven Gerrard looking utterly baffled) (REMEMBER THAT?!) Left us with only an untried, untested kid in N'gog as backup for Torres, blames everyone but himself from staff to players to the board, sacks 16 members with 20 years experience at the club on a whim, falls out with his best friend paco was closer to the players than himself. Sells off good players and replaces them with 2nd rate garbage. spends 20m on a crock who wasn't ready and finally lost the dressing room...I could go on and on.
For all Rafas plus points, there's a lot more negative ones, for the few good players he brought in (mostly from his own backyard in Torres, Reina, and Alonso, the guy lost the plot and was taking us backwards. He had more money available to him than any other Liverpool manager has ever had and was still moaning about money. He got the control he could only dream about at Valencia, the control he wanted at Inter recently, and still blew it.
He had his shot and was found wanting, and has no-one to blame but himself, he had too much control, and in retrospect it should never have been given to him because he couldn't handle it.
Now let's get this season over with, get H+G's pet monkey out and find a manager that can take us forward.

Rafa getting abuse from people that should know better. Rafa getting slagged off because 'he's coldhearted, selfish, doesn't care' and the rest. From those that were so blinkered, stupid, petty and sad that their rage led them to believe anyone could do a better job and that he was a horrible person. Then he donates all that money to the HJC. Then he donates to Alder Heys. Then he donates to other causes close to his families hearts. Then he says how much he loves the place and loves the club even though he was stabbed in the back. Admits he's made mistakes. Says he would love to come back one day. Gives us the Champions League and gets us to another final. Batters Real Madrid and Manchester United 4-1. Beats Barcelona on their own patch. Makes us feared throughout Europe. Gives us an FA Cup. Takes us to finals. Makes us believe. Makes us Dream. Makes us proud. Makes us spoilt with it all. Has us playing, controlling pressing football all over the pitch. Breaks scoring and points records and yet is labelled 'boring' by the seething, jealous press. The press hate him. The press really, really hate him. As a Liverpool fan - anyone that is hated by the lying Murdoch-led, Sun-oriented, money-spinning, self-serving, Xenophobic/Borderline Racist, Dumbed-Down, lying, crying press machine is a friend of mine. Gets the Club. Gets the City. Gets the Fans. Gets the Tradition. Gets the honour. Is one of us. Couldn't have put it better myself mate.

im not sure its ever a good idea to go backwards but to be honest id much rather have him there than roy. another thing is i think rafa outlined a number of top players to sign when he was here but was never given the backing and ended up settling for his second or 3rd pick, i think had he been given proper backing in the transfer market as wre led to believe nesv will give then i think he might well have won the league and would still be here anyway..its all ifs and butts, but id much prefer to give rafa benitez 30/40 million to spend than roy hodgson anyday..

Like Dunk's editorial I'd rather have him that Roy and would like to see how Rafa would work without financial constraints. He did some wonderful things for us, but you have to clear your thoughts and not get too nostalgic. We're talking about someone who alienated Riera, Beneyoun and Alonso, (the lata which I can't forgive) and sold Crouch, Bellamy and Keane leaving us so light up front it's untrue. I'm not sure you should ever go back, but a straight choice between him and Roy, it's Rafa every time for me.

Seriously RAFA back your getting worse then Paul Tomkins the man is gone and please god never to return he started this mess were in now yes Roy isn't the man for the job but RAFA is not the man either we were the worst team in the Prem last season to watch don't forget and how come the European champions are 6th in a poor Italian league some Liverpool fans are more RAFA fans then LFC fans Roy and Rafa are certainly not the men for the job

Well said. I dont want either H+G's pet monkey or Rafa at the club. Rafa had his chance, now let's get this season over with and move on with a fresh young manager with new ideas (Boas) ;-)

anyone who wants benitez back seriously needs to have a long hard look at themselves. if all the nonsense that went on while he was here wasnt enough, he goes to inter, proves he's a reasonable manager who has deluded himself into thinking its everyone's fault but his....... and now you want him back.
this is the stupidest thing i have ever heard in my life. you dont know whats good for you. i dont give a fck what he donates to or what he did for the city. he's not running for mayor.
Luis Garcia, He drinks sangria He came from Barca, to bring us Joy He's five foot seven, he's football heaven please don't take my Luis away.
