That is a truly amazingly staggering read that! shocked

Will it shut the anti Hodgson brigade up though?

I very much doubt it, as they pick holes in the statistics somehow.

Ok, I'll do it. Who did Benitez play his first 18 games again? Certainly not 2 games against a team from Macedonia, for starters. Benitez had to handle the CHAMPIONS' LEAGUE group stage, not TWO Europa Cup QUALIFIERS and group. So with all due respect, that Hodgson has managed an equivalent record but against generally weaker opposition would be a bare minimum for a manager. Were his record worse, well, you work it out.

Roy's good statistics are mainly on the back of 4 Europa victories over easy teams. Take those away and what are you left with? Try to remember that we never dropped below 9th in the EPL during the same period for Beintez; not languished in the relegation zone.

Roy has had more than 18 games in charge, though maybe that article is old? Aah, it doesn't include the Napoli home game.

Europa: 4 qualifiers, 4 group stage (W 6, D 2)
EPL: 10 (W 3, D 3, L 4)
Cup: 1 (L 1)

The reason the fans are unhappy is that the bulk of Roy's good results are in the Europa Cup not the EPL against decent opposition. Unbeaten 13 of 18. True! 14 of 19 now, in fact. But really, 8 of those 14 should have been walkovers.

You can read anything into statistics.

And we seem to be forgetting that this is Rafa's squad during all this. Or isn't that the primary reason Roy is failing? Whatever the flavour of the week is for why Roy is not the rubbish we know he is, look at how we play, look at how he treats the players in the press, look at who he targets in the transfer market, look at his career; nothing says anything other than "average manager" (and I'm being kind there). LFC deserves a manager in a different class, and I hope NESV have realized that.
