I think Torres might also be worried about ending up like Gerrard where your career is held back through blind loyalty, Gerrard who like Alan Shearer both put loyalty before there careers. Lets be honest if Alan Shearer at the time had signed for United who came in for him ahead of his belovered Newcastle he would of finished his career with four or five league championship medals and probably two European Cup ones, instead he left the game with one solitary League Cheampionship medal he won at Blackburn, Gerrard should also have won more major medals than his one Champions league one also as both these players ability should of provided there eforts with so much more out of the game.
Surprising comments from a fan, more what you'd expect from 99% of today's pro footballers. I respect Shearer more than nearly any man to have ever played the game. It has nothing to do with 'blind loyalty'.
It's the kind of chat some of the old pros probably have when they meet up years after retiring. You could get the pro who won everything but not for his childhood team and someone like Shearer who listens to it all, then with a wry smile said "yeh you won it all, but I played for Newcastle".
I get that, that's why he said Fu*ck the Mancs and I never hear him talking with any regrets.
Maybe when Gerrard retires it may sting for a while but he will probably look back in the same way?
Torres is younger and still has the time; his body language as others have pointed out is saying it all. It appears he's genuinely feeling like he's wasting his time.
This topic will all hinge on whether a new owner comes in before the next transfer window and if the right players are available to buy from the off so he gets the support from other areas of the field he needs.
