I thought he had a good game yesterday and was one of the few bright sparks for us. We looked much more positive with him in the middle of the park. Much much better than poulsen and lucas combined. Torres looked more lively with him spraying balls forward.

I'm not sure why roy took him off and brought on jova. If Raul had stayed on, I think we'd have gotten at least the draw or even forced a win as he was pushing the scum on their back foot with his passes.

All in all, 5 points in 5 games doesn't bode well for us esp when we see the chavs banging in 4-5 goals every week.

very mobile, good vision. gave us a new dimension in midfield.

im very excited with meireles. I cannot wait till when they all settle into the new system and they learn to play with one another better. the likes of gerrard,cole, and meireles should make any team [oops] their pants

Why did we take him off ? Can only guess he doesn't have the fitness yet...What a player! Great signing Roy.

Roy took him off in my opnion to change the game... when it didnt need changing. Raul was the most influencial player on the pitch next to stevie, ended up changing for the worse and i hope Roy realised his mistake and wont do it again.

But yeah overall Merieles looks brilliant.

Damn right Rafarendum, He was good, wasnt great. He should of scored that cross from Poulsen and maybe he would of been great then He shouldnt be playing behind Torres tho, Thats either Gerrard's or Cole's role because we were controlling the midfield more with him in there. Stay in the middle Raul.

A: Gerrard and Meireles.

Maybe we just stopped being a two man team? Which is a step up from the one-man team we were a few years ago, eh?

For me it wasn't what Meireles personally did or didn't do on Sunday, but rather how much cohesion he brought to the side when he dropped back into midfield. That's arguably the thing we need most, and hopefully Roy can build on that. For the most part we've been terrible in the EPL, but the light at the end of the tunnel just got brighter.
