guys, he only said that he worked and improved his defensive side
my guess that he won't appear forward like he used to with charlton but more evolved like Xavi

These are my thoughts exactly, it would be a crime to turn him into a DM, he has some similaritys to stevie, let him learn off him and hopefully he might end up something like. But to play the lad as a DM is a terrible idea, granted we don't have a particuly good one but that doesn't mean we ruin a good player.

am glad we agree .ok dingo we should start a petition abt turning shevely into dm. we will take it all the way to the top (mayb as far up as the canteen lady) i will allow you to do all the leg work but i will support you from far far away smile.

on a serious note shevely has quality and we need to allow him to express him self not put shackles on the young lad

we played Gerrard in the same way. In fact he even played a while at right back when he came through,he didn't become the all action player until his early twenties. It's easier to learn the game and make better decisions if the game is in front of you. Therefore defensive positions DM,RB are used to give young players much needed first team experience.

Remember playing first team football is not just about the players ability but the mental character, being around senior players and up against older more physical players. Therefore each young player needs to build confidence slowly, this is no good if just thrown in and left to it.

So will Babel come on for Babel in the 78th minute? laugh

Who is your captain? Still Lucas?

I must confess to enjoying the youthful look to this team, but I doubt Roy will put out so many inexperienced players at once. Also I think Aurelio and N'gog may be doubtful with injury. So I reckon we may see the dreaded Lucas+Poulsen combo, with Raul on the bench to get in about 25 mins rather than 75 with United on the weekend.

We're more likely to see:
--------------Jones----------------
--Kelly---Greek---Skrtel---Aurelio--
--Amoo--Poulsen--Lucas(c)--Pacheco--
------------Shelvey-----------------
------------Babel-------------------

Bench:
Gulasci, Kontchesky, Maxi, N'Gog, Wilson, Spearing, Raul

If Aurelio is not fit to start we may have a problem, though I guess Wilson could play LB?

EDIT: Yes, I realize I didn't reduce the number of youth players because I couldn't think of anyone else! Oh dear!

Boys.

The last thing we need to do for this game is play a load of youngsters or bench warmers.! we are not in a position to do this because at present we have no form wat all and we need to get some cohesion and confidence going.
We played less than OK against Arsenal but were unlucky not to win, changed the team to play in the Europa and then changed back to play City, how well did that work out.? We have not played well since and do not look like we could beat Rangers all year long at present.! lets get the same team out and get some sort of ball rolling on the result side of things, only then should we make changes otherwise we are in danger of never getting going.

with the way we are playing they need to field thhe strongest 11.

They need as much time together as possible and this RUBBISh about resting players is a load of crap ...

Its the start of the [oops] season. We can rest them at a later date .. get em on the pitch and get some team building before it all goes pete tong and this season is a complete washout.

Apparently this is the team to be fielded:

Reina
Kelly
Agger
Soto
Konchesky
Maxi
Spearing
Raul
Babel
Cole
Ngog

Its an ok team I guess, be interesting to see how Spearing performs, don't really think he is going to make it but lets wait and see. Would have liked to have seen Pach and I hope the omission of Lucas and Poulsen does not mean they are starting at the weekend. Wonder how Roy will line them up, 4-4-1-1 or 4-5-1?
