ask the players what they think about Lucas? I have asked Carra, sammy Lee and Alex Miller in recent years(I am linked into football acadamies)about him and they all say he is a players player. because he does not do the dramatic or the extravagant he is not liked by fans is the belief. (The other comment was that some are ignorant).Yet all the players really like him because he never hides, has good control, two footed and is super fit. I respect those who offer a different opinion but just to rant for the sake of it in order to get your own way has becomse tiresome.
I suppose if he hid for 80 of the 90 minutes, tried tonnes of pointless hail mary passes when a simpler more effective pass was on, could be bothered to put in the effort when the game was 0-0 or 0-1 instead of trying to be a superstar saviour when we were 2-0 down, we'd reckon he had a great game??
I'm not a huge fan of Lucas, he is a neat and tidy player and probably not up to the standard we need right now, however over the last 15 months the lad does not look out of place in our team. That is the biggest concern, can you say that in the last 15 months that Lucas has been worse than Kuyt, Insua, Johnson, The Greek, Carra? Also over the last 15 months have Gerrard, Torres, Skrtel, Agger, Mash, Babbel, Maxi been better than Lucas? That to me says it all, We are now only an AVERAGE TEAM.
