i agree he is quite one dimensional in that sense, but he is the best at what he does best. obviously xavi and alonso are better going forward but they have a quite rare style, they can play make from deep, i would much prefer this type of player but still none of them can tackle like masch can. you still can't get away from the fact he is held in very high regard on the world stage.

i can kind of see your point with michael carrick but its very controversial. i seen michael carrick play some of his worsted football last season, hes very poor. he didnt deserve to make the england squad and i will be suprised if fergie doesnt sell him especially now owen hargreaves is fit.

bloodyhell i know mascarano wants to leave and lots of pple are upset about this but to say carrick is a better DM is just something else. carrick must be one of the shiitest players to play for man u in resent times. i would have mascarano other carrick ever time

he clearly wants to leave, so let him go if them tw*ats in charge will give roy the funds (30m as rumoured) then take the cash if not i'd swap him for alonso and van der vaart, if Real Madrid want him, but it looks like its between Barce and Inter, if thats the cash i'd take cash from barce and swap with inter (cambiasso and milito/eto'o). Any thoughts?

I was comparing Carrick as someone who plays in the same position as Mascherano but brings more to the table as in passing and scoring goals rather than just the tackling aspect, do agree however think Carrick was very poor for United last season and wont be suprised at all if Sir Alex replaces him.

I definitely think we should play hard ball with Rafa over Masch...it was Rafa who set the £50m figure last year so now he will have to face the consequences...if he wants him it will be big figures and maybe players as well. If Masch wants out that much, he will have to get Rafa to make it happen.

I doubt it. Marginally if anything. But if the £20+ million was re-invested in the squad then it could only be a good move!

Guess what I'm saying is that the difference between a £10 Mil DM and a £30 Mil one is not very big. Whereas the difference between a 10 Mil striker and a £30 Mil one is vast! SAme applies for a Winger

I totally agree. Now is the time to sell him and re-invest the cash on decent players that actually wants to play for this club.
Sell him now while we can make a good profit on him.
