It's annoying how people start writing Mane and Firmino off immediately. How can they not see that it's a squad game and we finally have some much needed depth up top, being still in 4 comps. It's more likely that Klopp will rotate Diaz, Salah, Mane, Firmino, Jota, and move Origi and Minamino on in the summer.
Firmino has been running on fumes for the past 2 seasons barely breaking into double figures. He is still a vital player for us but Jota has surpassed him in terms of goals and goal creation. Firmino will be squad player on the bench when needed.
Firmino is still very integral to how we play, he is our best link up player, often the stats do not show the work he does. Jota has been great for us, scored goals, but he does not link the play as well as Firmino does.
I think who we sell will depends on what bids we receive, if a decent bid for Firmino or Mane comes in, I think FSG will sell while they have value, I would rather keep both, as they give us real strength in depth we have not had in the forward line, but they will be on very good deals, so not easy to sell, look at the problems we are having moving on Origi.
Can't see Firmino starting a lot of our games anymore, even physically he struggles. I think he will have a better impact coming off the bench but it will depend if that suits him
I agree, I think Klopp will pick Firmino for specific games rather than being an automatic starter, I can see him being used more against teams who sit back and try and block off out attacks, as he can open the defences with him flicks and tight passing, he has great creativity, rather than the pace you need against the top teams.
But he will be a good option from the bench also, we used to have a significant drop in quality when we used to take of one of the 3 attackers, but now we have 5 decent forwards.
As others have said, I would like to see Firmino given a go in a deeper role behind the front 4 in the MF, he has allot of creativity, just not sure how he would cope with all the running our MF are expected to do, but would be good to try him.
