Back in the day we were after him but he went to Spurs after we baulked at the £10m having supposedly offered £9m ourselves. Now they are looking to let him go out on loan.
Given that we are a bit light in midfield with injuries, fragile players who cannot stay fit would it be worth taking him on?
If anyone can get him playing it's Klopp and seeing as any 5 from 8 of Thiago, Fabinho, Ox, Hendo, Keita, Elliott, Jones and Milner are fit at any one time is Alli someone who could be a bit of a wildcard for the second half of the season.
Just thinking with AFCON coming up a player with an eye for goal could help take pressure off the strikers left when Mane, Salah and Keita leave these shores. Something serious has gone wrong with him but a genuine goalscoring midfielder of his age is hard to find. Realistically we are not going to splash £60m on Tielemans in the summer or £70m in Jan as a panic buy.
Bringing someone on loan covers us for cups, doesn't block the progress of Elliott, Jones and Morton when they are all fit and gives us an added option.
Smart money is on him going to Villa or Newcastle but on top form he is a few notches above that.
Is he worth a punt or is he really a spent force?

Talented player who has lost his way. Klopp would get a tune out of him

Talented but a troubled soul, who downs tools easily. I don't know if he'd be able to do the pressing that Klopp demands?
There's plenty of other players out there with less baggage and question marks.

Good player but lost his way, I think Klopp could get the best out of him, but Spurs/Levy would want allot of money, so there must be better options out there who do not need as much work/fragile! I'd prefer we use the money towards someone like Bellingham, or maybe a cheeky bid for Kavertz, who I have always liked and is much better, Chelsea have allot of forwards so you never know.
A loan deal until the end of the season would be a good move, but he will want to play and we cannot guarantee that, so he will probably end up at a Villa or Newcastle, he does need a move.

he is done.. shame had real lampard kinda talent .. what a waste I wouldn't write him off yet, but he needs to prove himself soon at the right club, I cannot see him doing that at Spurs. I expect Spurs/Alli will Rinse Newcastle in the New Year transfer window for as much as they can get (allot) as Newcastle will be desperate and will throw money at him to join, I do not think this would be the right football move for him, but it probably will earn him allot more than he will get elsewhere.

Maddison at Leicester is another Cantwell at Norwich and Sancho and Rashford at United. All these players are seeing their transfer values plummet after 2 or 3 very good years. All young players peaked too soon. Many of these players we have been linked with in the past. I wonder how many of them would see a huge resurgence under a brilliant manager like Klopp or are they all going to fade away ? It is a sharp reminder not to jump in for a player like Bellingham or Phillips at an inflated price especially when you have the likes of Jones, Elliott and Morton still nowhere near fully developed.

A loan deal may not be a bad. The talent is still there and if Klopp can get him to buy into our cause, it might just be a move to reignite his career too. To get him on a perm deal will be a different issue altogether. But being able to work with him first, it would help Klopp make a more informed decision on that front.

A loan deal would be good for us, especially with the AFCON, but I doubt he would play that much if the front 3 (of 4) are available, so I think he will want to go somewhere he regularly plays, there are links with Villa & Newcastle, which make more sense for him.
