Interesting line up, very attacking for an away game at City, I guess Klopp couldn't decide between Jota & Bobby !!!!

Good Gomez is back.

Quite offensive and Firmino will probably play number 10, best available team

Good result, we have not got anything there for a few years, so a point is a good result and keeps the distance between us and City, with the pressure on them and another difficult away game played, they are the second best team in the PL.

First 30 minutes we played really well, just didn't make the best of our chances, some poor last passes/decisions, considering the players we had out..... VvD, Fab, Thiago, losing TAA and returning Matip etc and the games we played recently, we did well to come through that.

Matip had a really good game considering he was just returning, hopefully TAA is not too bad, but he has sometime over the international break to recover.

Before the game I would of been happy with a draw but seeing our electric start and the chances we missed in the first 30 mins I am a bit disappointed, city were poorer than usual so they were there for the taking. The performance was good in the first half but the 2nd half we had fewer chances as we just set back as the game went on.

The Shaqiri substitution was bizarre imo, pep already changed the tactics in the first half to combat our 4 forwards, klopp just sent a like for like sub as jota moved up and Shaqiri took his place and kept the same tactics. Klopp should of sent Keita on and switched to our usual 433 so we can control the midfield and go for it. Klopp seemed happy with the point but I feel we could of been more proactive with our approach.

Also a word on Matip, what a fantastic game he had coming back from injury he looked very strong for a player that has been on several week layoff, our defence improved by a lot.

I am not too sure about that, I think our pressure worked in the first 25 mins, but couldn't continue on that same pace and they got their game back. Regarding Keita, I think he would have provided more than Shaq defending, but ha hasn't played for a long time, and we probably couldn't afford to take risks.

I am happy with the draw because we were lucky De Bruyn missed his penalty

TAA going off injured totally ended our attacking verve.
Milner, solid as he is, could not put in the crosses that TAA usually does when he had 2-3 chances to do so. instead sideways and back. Mane and Jota were left wondering what the....
but yes, a point was still a good result at City.

I agree, Milner is solid, but we create so much from full back positions, it really stunted us when we lost TAA, I was surprised Neco Williams or Kostas were not on the bench? we only had Phillips as a defensive option who is a CB, but we had 4 MF in Jones/Keita/Milner/Shaq, so I think we made a mistake there, as we did not have enough cover for defense.

Point away at city is a good point. Hopefully Trent is no too bad. Excellent first half where you really are hoping we take another chance. Momentum changed in the second half and I think we did well to hold on but I hope that is the exact reason where Thiago will be so influential in just being able to keep possession rather than hoofing it back to city at every opportunity.
