Good point. They’ve just said it won’t resume haven’t they?

Yep, I think they have a meeting planned to decide, the French Government have taken the decision out of the FA hands by banning all sports events, that's what I fear may happen in the UK, Germany will be a big test case on this as they are ahead of us in the planned return.

Interesting with PSG as they are in the CL QF, so they cannot play in France as the Govt has banned all sports events until end of the year, also, how can they play CL games with no league games in between, they will have no match fitness?

Will the ban be lifted for the start of their new season too?

When it was first announced, they said until the end of the year, but now it is reported as September, so I guess that would be a delayed start of a few weeks, which will probably happen for most leagues as they may not end until august anyways.

But no certainty that it will start even in September is there? Could be a second wave etc. which is why voiding this season with no guarantee the next can start is pointless.

There is no guarantee in any of this, when Governments get involved, they are not generally considering the impact on sport, its about saving lives and minimising risk, rightly so.

When a government sets a precedent, lots of other governments tend to follow, you can imagine the press asking Boris why football can resume safely in the UK but not in France?

You’re right. Sport takes a back seat when people’s lives are at stake and rightly so. But again another reason not to void a season that’s three quarters done when there’s no guarantee that the next will start.

Why are fifa saying to get ready for next season? Why are uefa setting deadlines on leagues returning or being void? I get they need to plan but they seem to be in a rush to finish this season so next can start which is pointless when everything is up in the air.

The most sensible and fair thing to do is to just sit tight and wait until it’s safe, really safe, to restart this season whether that’s in May, June, July or next January. Unfortunately as I said before their response will be led by money.

How restarting a new season instead of finishing the current one is led by money?

All the noise coming from the governing bodies seems to be geared towards getting things going rather than taking time until it’s absolutely safe to do so. That is what is led by money, in my opinion, as they’re losing bucket loads while there’s no football.

The big ticket items are sponsoship and TV money there will be neither without football

Which is why I fear voiding the season and starting a new one will be a very likely scenario
