Can someone please explain to me why I have heard a couple of times that Liverpool have to win by 2 clear goals tomorrow night? Is this right and why can't we win 2-1?

The away goal rule. We didn't get a goal in Madrid.

I understand the away rule but they were at home last game. If they don't score here and we get 2 why don't we win 2-1 ?

We will go through if we win 2-0 on the night, that is a 2 clear goal win on the night as you say, so we would go through winning 2-1 over the 2 legs. Same if we win 3-1 on the night, that would be 3-2 over 2 legs, we went through the same way last year against Barca, we lost 3-0 at Barca, but won 4-0 at Anfield, so we went through 4-3 over the 2 legs.

Yes then we win with two clear goals right?

Ignore me I am being stupid! They mean 2 clear goals on the night eg 2-0 to us tomorrow. You'll have to excuse but feeling tired at the mo. Enjoy the game. YNWA

2-0, 3-1, 4-2, etc so we have to win by 2 clear goals. Getting 1 is enough to go extra time and penalties aswell.

We don't have to win by 2 clear goals. We can score just 1 and then go through on penalties.

We can also lose on penalties as on paper they have the better keeper, we better have 2 clear goals
