That's also obvious. What isn't obvious is everything else he does. If we were struggling in the league it would be an issue. Or if he was wearing anything other than 9 in his back not many people would bother scrutinising him with 8 goals and 7 assists. I think he could easily play in Chamberlains position and Werner could go up top. Completely agree. He could score more but he’s not an out and out striker and doesn’t play like one. If we got someone like Werner he could definitely drop back a bit and be very effective. But we didn’t sign anyone this season so people got to moan.

The only way we'l end up with a world class player is if we develop one. As I've said before, I'd be surprised if FSG stumped up the cash for another world class attacking midfielder (we don't play with a traditional striker) after being stung with Ketia.

He’s the only one that hasn’t really worked out and despite what you say a lot of that is down to injuries. Having said that I don’t expect we’ll be splashing hundreds of millions on any one player. We don’t have the mo DT for that luxury (I’m sure someone will say we do). I think we’ll be in for Werner at the prices being mentioned for his buyout. Anyone else that’s out there along those lines too I’d imagine.

Thinking about it, have FSG bought any world class players? I know we've paid world class prices but were Allison and VVD world class when we bought them? Breaking a record for a player (VVD, Alisson) should be at least considered as world class fees
