Is he really a yes man? If he really thought Gerrard, Torres and Mascherano were going to be sold and/or that he would have no budget, would he really agree to become our manager? Me thinks not.

I'm not saying Hicks and Gillett are anything other than $hitebags, but I think it is wrong to assume Roy will be in there simply content to oversee a mass firesale of players and not have any cash to spend...

Let's see... meanwhile - Welcome Roy, YNWA...
Well said Anne.

100% agree.
i concur with ann y in the world would roy take over if he has no team i.e gerrard torres and maschereno being sold, although i think we should get rid of any player that don't want to play for the shirt onward and upwards

The question is whether Stevie and Nando (and others) are likely to want to stay with Hodgson as the manager. Is he going to be able to convince them to stay? Will they want to play for him?

Roy would not be my first choice as manager either. However I'll suspend judgement until I see how the season pan's out. My biggest worries about him are his ability to motivate our players & his tactical nous. His second season at Blackburn was dreadfull, he lost the dressing room & made some pretty grim buy's (Kevin Davies et al). However, his reputation for attacking football offers some encouragement. It will be interesting to see how he manages our defence - not much left in Carra's tank, Skrtel can blow hot & cold, Insua's still relatively inexperienced, etc.

Must admit I'm not looking forward to next season, but as always the club has 100% of my support.

Good luck to him if he's our next manager.

Not my number one choice, but at least it will provide some much needed stability.

The more i think about this the more it makes sense from from a board level, if roy does well the the board say "we told u so" if he fails in maybe 3-6 months the current board won't be there hopefully to take the flake from the supporters so there in a win win situtation here, sorry if this is negative post but i really hope its the 1st and not the 2nd

Good luck Roy!

As a supporter he has my 100% backing in very difficult times. He is not responsible for our situation, the organisation is dysfunctional and if we are taken over he'll be sacked within 6 months.

That said I think he has a good squad to work with, if the key players stay fit- and arent sold- and I prefer to be optimistic! He may be a pleasant surprise! (We deserve one!)

That said we should all be writing to RBS to complain about the extension of the loan.

Keep the focus of anger on the correct f@&kers!
