I thought he came over well and was being honest about brexit, rather than talking bullsh*t like most of the experts, he said most people did not understand the impact, good or bad, both sides were speaking rubbish and stating 'facts' that were never facts, just the Brexit mob were better at making their 'facts' sound believable.

This is why we should not have referendums, we end up with things like death penalties coming back as too many knee jerkers are manipulated easily.

I've heard Barnes talk about the Neeson comments before, I think he is right, people are in fear to comment as they are immediately classified as racist. it's better issues are discussed and people understand other cultures/religions, maybe the brexit vote wouldn't have gone the way it did if people didn't fear immigration/cultures as much.

There are 45 million UK voters I don't know the intelligence or level of research they have done and neither does john Barnes. It's funny how it's only brexit where this question arises no one ever questions how intelligent the voters are before general elections or previous referendums. We voted to join the common market in 1975 I presume these new rules don't apply to that and back then we did know what we were voting for ?

I think the point Barnes was making is that no one really knows what the impact will be when we leave, so when they voted no one knew the impact, this is all uncharted water, we are 2 years on in negotiations and no one can say what the impact will be on the UK in 6 months time.

People like Farage, Rees-Mogg & Johnson have probably set themselves up nicely to come out of this in a better position.

I think it's because referendums like this are extremely rare.

I was just too young to vote in the 75 referendum but I remember the years afterwards no one questioned how intelligent were the voters although I remember many questioning the decision to join. That's fair enough put this modern trend to question democracy because you don't like the result and questions others right to vote is unhealthy. And maybe even dangerous
