We would be insane to offer him a contract extension pay as you play should be the best he can achieve

He could get 20 odd goals this season and that is all he could still expect to be honest with his injury record.

If he gets 10 or 15 EPL goals I will be happy. I can't see it happening though.

How much would a striker who can get us a point out of nothing at the Bridge cost according to to you? I am sure his wages will be reduced and he has proved he can be useful off the bench.

When he got his last contract he was on a high, had scored allot of goals in 2013-2014 and had been very good, so he was rewarded.

Any new contract will be based on his current value to the team, he is a backup striker/impact substitute, so he will be paid as such, we can see how he's go's this season, if he continues to do well/play games/score goals and doesn't get injuries, he should be given a contract on lower pay/short contract, which will be lower than he currently gets, which was based on being a star striker who always played.

He is motivated to get a new contract, but we should not be in any rush to sign him up.

Not really arsed about contracts right now, tbh. I am just happy to see him playing games and scoring goals. He's made, what, 7 appearances this season, with 4 goals and 2 starts? That's great for a backup striker. He's not the main man anymore, and that part of his career is probably gone. But we were able to get 3 points this week without starting Bobby or Mane. That is progress to me.

Yeah, I agree, he's useful to have and is offering more than I ever thought we would see from him again.

Isn't it abit odd that Mane didn't play? how many players break fingers/hands and where protection cast, I'm surprised he wasn't available with a broken thumb? I'm guessing Klopp wanted to rest him anyways, good we have Shaq as an option now also, as he can do the maverick attacking role.
