He seems to have been dishonest about mentioning that the injury had gone worse during the WC, when he was playing multiple games per week.
When he came back from the WC he couldn't even get seated in his own car without extensive pain. That much was reported in the Croatian interview.
So in my books he has made a big mistake by not reporting a worsened injury before he came back from his holiday! And when he did that it was almost too late for the club to take any actions and strengthen the squad where it suddenly went absolutely blank as far as any backup is concerned.
I mean: Lovren: Injured Klavan: Injured Matip: Injured Gomez: Inexperienced in the CB position Phillips: Totally inexperienced
What a f*uckup by Mr Braincell himself!

Yeah come on Pickles ,need some proof. May take a few weeks and a big fu from the club...but i'll request a freedom of information on Lovren's injury history! I'm only going from the media and what has been posted/printed. Ok, where has it been posted or printed? Because it doens't match up with what Klopp himself is saying here. It sounds like conspiracy theories and blogpost ramblings without any evidence. https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/311772-jurgen-klopp-dejan-lovren-injury-liverpoolKlopp says it's a pelvic injury, not a stomach injury, and he was carrying it most of the year, but could play. So not sustained during the WC. He played a lot of minutes and aggravated it, but it was nothing we didn't know about already and Klopp sounds very calm and like he was perfectly aware of it, and it's not that serious. He was cleared for duty and had a great World Cup. So what you are claiming as fact contradicts on 3 counts with what the gaffer is saying. I have never heard of these mysterious team rules you are talking about, and there is nothing to indicate Lovren was dishonest about any of this. I read it in the OP on this thread from the Echo: “I cannot train at all because of stomach muscle issues,” said Lovren. “I am suffering a lot of pain and will see a specialist doctor in the Netherlands.
“When did I start to feel it? I felt it during the World Cup. I played with pain and those three games killed me. But who wouldn't play for Croatia at such a big tournament!
“After the World Cup finished, the pain increased. I can't even sit in my car without feeling it and to get out of the car hurts like hell!
“I'd always grit my teeth and play for Croatia, but now I am paying the price. But no price is too high for what we achieved in Russia.”
Asked about Liverpool's reaction to the injury, Lovren – speaking to Croatian news outlet Sportske Novosti – said: “Of course, they are not happy.
“I haven’t trained since I returned from holiday. I can't.
“I'll reassess things after seeing the doctor in Netherlands. I have to deal with that for now and believe it will be okay.
“I hoped it would pass during my holiday, but it didn't. As I went for a swim, it hurt. I couldn't even rest normally.”https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/fo...elines-15017639He pretty much says there he got injured in the WC and even when he came back he didn't report it to Liverpool, it's when he returned to training he told them! This could end him at Liverpool, Klopp will forgive crap players and poor performances, but if players take the p*ss and think of themselves, he will get rid.

This could end him at Liverpool, Klopp will forgive crap players and poor performances, but if players take the p*ss and think of themselves, he will get rid. Where does it say that he didn't report it? Obviously we aren't happy. Why would we be happy that our player is injured? That doesn't mean he hid anything from anyone or broke any rules. All it says was that he's injured and we're not happy. Nothing we didn't already know. He played through the pain, as Klopp said he did most of the season with us. Since when is that against any club's rules? It was one of the biggest moments in his career. Of course he played. There is no rule that I know of against getting injured on international duty or playing through injury. Hell, Pele's Brazil career was built on the tournament he played through a knee injury! You are making conclusions that aren't supported by facts, at least not within the article you posted.

What about this then? From the official LFC web site 7 August 2018: Dejan Lovren is 'ready and fit' to start contributing to Liverpool's quest for success in the coming season. The centre-back returned to Melwood on Monday morning to begin pre-season training following the conclusion of his post-World Cup holiday. Lovren helped Croatia reach the final of the tournament in Russia, of course, just months after playing in the Champions League showpiece with the Reds. And while the No.6 admitted he needed the benefits of a break from the game in the past few weeks, he is already raring to go again. “I could even play half an hour now!” he told LFCTV during the build-up to Tuesday night’s friendly with Torino at Anfield. “But let’s go step by step. Let’s do the preparation and we will see what will happen on Sunday. “After the Champions League final, it was hard for me mentally to accept the defeat. Then I came to the national side and straight to the World Cup; it was quite difficult for me. “I got a break of three weeks and I’m now ready and fit again, and full of desire to win many games here and hopefully we can win a couple of trophies.” https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/310892-dejan-lovren-liverpool-interviewDid he after that interview suddenly remember that he was injured and actually couldn't play? Very strange indeed!

What a f*uckup by Mr Braincell himself! I read Klavan might be sold in this window. Anyway, I think he is a liability but we are very thin in that department unless Gomez is really ready

We apparently rejected a bid from Newcastle for Ragnar the Klavan.
Seeing as it's either him or Phillips if gomez breaks himself again i think we need to keep big Ragnar.

I don’t think we’ll be too bad at the back. One of the biggest things to help back there was to strengthen the midfield to protect the back 4 which we’ve done. It’s not an ideal situation for us but it’s not the end of the world.

It’s not an ideal situation for us but it’s not the end of the world. It all depends on what the end of the world is. It's different to different people. A lot will depend on how good Gomez proves to be. I think Matip is coming back as well. The main problem would be if VVD is out.

Yeah VVD being out would be the worry especially if Lovren and Matip are still out.

We better not sell anyone at this stage especially at CB. We will play many games and even Klavan will start some games at some stage so I hope he stays.
Back to Back World Champions baby!
