If you're right and the Liverpool way has gone, then we're well and truly screwed.
But i think you're wrong. I believe that we need a return to the methods that made us great and that has nothing to do with mega-rich owners who will throw millions of pounds at players. In fact, it's since we started spending more money in the transfer market that we've fallen.
We can't hope to compete with the likes of Chelsea and Man City financially and so we've no choice but to resort to the methods that brought us success in the first place. And as i recall, we didn't achieve that success by lashing out vast sums on players.
In short, to coin an old phrase, if you can't be first, be different.
