Gotta be a League title....or else..... Or else what? Both Pep and Mourinho have spent more since they arrived. sorry you can't spend what we have this summer then say here you go here's an FA Cup or League Cup....no chance no way. The days of fans defending Klopp and hiding behind the excuse that he hasn't had the money to compete with the big clubs has firmly gone...that ship has well and truly sailed...gotta deliver the league, no excuses this season now. Says who? How much did Pep spend his first year? He won nothing, but they progressed. How much did Mourinho spend last year? Both outspent Klopp in their tenure, and City still ahve a better squad on paper. Run them close, win a cup, and that is major progress. Throwing ultimatums down is only going to undo all that progress.

That's your opinion Spangly...
Most pundits see City as still being much stronger because they have experienced, successful players throughout their squad. A much better Premier League effort and a trophy would be significant progress for Liverpool. For Liverpool to mount a prem title challenge we'd need a lot of luck with our main players staying injury free. We've strengthened significantly but not to the strength of City's overall squad.
I don't think any realistic pundit or fan believes Liverpool can topple City after being 25 points behind them last year. gonna have to disagree with you there...I think FSG think we can win the League and that's why they have given Klopp the funds. If they didn't want to target the league they would not of given him that amount of money when just half of that would maybe of still secured a top four place. There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever FSG are targeting the League title this season there is no way FSG would throw money at something when there was no need to risk that amount, they are business men and much too savvy. I think City will win the league myself, not by the margin as last season but they will win it by double figures and comfortable. If you ask me how it will pan out for us, put it this way going by how many points City lose over a season if at anytime this season City go six points or more ahead of us, the league campaign will be over as there is no way we are pulling that back...no chance. So you don't expect us to win it, but if we don't we failed and he has to go? That makes zero sense.

Well that recent study by ESPN showed that if the right decisions were made last season we would have been 10 points behind City in 2nd place with Spurs 10 points behind in 3rd and Man Utd a further 2 points behind in 4th. Hopefully somebody (VVD) gets given the armband and we become more vocal towards refereeing decisions this coming season.
That's shocking to see 18 points difference turnaround on Man Utd and only leads me to believe that we accepted incorrect decisions without challenging referees!

I agree Vish, would of liked another CB. Phillips has looked really good in pre-season, I would like us to give him a go, he's 21 and has been the U23 captain.

Good luck to him, he needs to play, so makes sense to move, surprised it's not just a loan, SKY are reporting the deal is worth £20 million, so decent money for a player who hasn't really played in 3 years.

So we should just not try? Just give up and accept mediocrity and let Man City, United and chelsea compete for it then? I'm sorry, but I'm having difficulty trying to understand what point you're actually trying to drive at? Do you understand football or sport, for that matter, at all?

So you don't expect us to win it, but if we don't we failed and he has to go? That makes zero sense. I have not put nearly 200 million pound of my own money into gambling for the League title unlike FSG...if I did I would expect my manager to win me a League title for that amount. I think FSG are mad for risking that much of my own capital with the size of the bigger Clubs in the Premier League we are trying to compete with. Put it this way, I look at us as a Club in a car race, for years we have been a Ford Focus...this year we have invested more money than before and become an Audi or BMW the only problem is, the race we are in also has a McClaren...Ferrari and Bugatti, we are expecting those three cars to break down for us to win the race however not all three will all break down at the same time...so basically no chance... FSG have put allot of money in, but their initial investment to buy us has increased massively, also, the player values have increased, Leicester were quoting £80 million for Maguire, that means VvD must be worth £150+ million! FSG are investing, but they will reap the rewards, whether we win trophies or not.
