If we won second, it would be great, but so long as we finish in the top four, it's not that big of a deal. I'm more concerned about us getting to the CL final.

Anyone know what the money difference for 4th to 3rd etc??

In many ways I think getting 4th may be best.....If Klopp get's second with this squad, FSG will only give him a fiver for transfers...

With all the money we'll get from the Cl results and league position, I don't think the transfer war chest is going to be an issue. They've spent money these last few windows. We won't outspend City, but with Keita coming in, all we really need is a defensive midfielder, a CB, and a backup attacker. Two really quality additions, and one who can rotate with our front 3.

Micky Quinn said this morning on TalkSport that he's heard Klopp will have a war chest of £250 million in the summer, I know you can dismiss him easily, but he does have decent contacts at the club, I guess it all depends how you count the Coutinho money and which years budget VvD & Keita were bought under.

We need to focus on CL and giving that our best effort, but I don't think the likes of Salah/Firmino/Mane do well after being given a rest, they seem to thrive on playing and keeping their rhythm, often clubs like PSG/Barca/Bayern struggle after wrapping their league up early as they lose the competitive edge.

Finishing above 4th would show progress on last year and help attracting players for next year.

We got a 50 million windfall just from making the quaterfinals, and more than that for the semis.

Another 23 million in prize money is up for grabs, plus another 10M in matchday revenue. Even if Roma progress past us, we'll take home a total of 67.5 Million. From the league we'll receive 150 million in prize money/tv rights from finishing 3rd. So that's 217.5 million right there, not counting sponsorship rights and such.

I don't know if 250 million is accurate or not, but based on what we stand to receive now, it does't look that outlandish. If we finished 2nd and won the CL, we'd pretty much have made that just on the League and European performance.

What we make and what FSG spend are entirely different things, hopefully FSG have learnt with Klopp that if he is given the money to buy the players he wants, he will deliver success and deliver more profit on and off the pitch, maybe the message has sunk in at FSG now......

We bought pretty much every player on the wish list this past year, even the ones we had to wait for (VVD, Keita).

The only high profile target we had that we didn't land was Lemar, and that one was sort of last minute. That was more of a case of Monaco not wanting to sell. Us and Arsenal offered to throw money at them, but they didn't budge.

I hate those playoff games that come with 4th place, too much riding on them. 3rd looks doable, be nice to finish ahead of Manu though.
