On current form, firmino and mane are way way better than suarez and coutinho. As a front three I'd prefer what we've got...on current form ofc. You've missed out Messi?

We always have the habit of buying a world class player for a reasonable fee: Alonso, Torres, Suarez, Brazilian [oops] and now Mo Salah. Pity they leave us soon. We just need trophies. Difference is that, these players were not world class when they came to us. The LFC way and culture turned them into these players. You can even throw Macherano's name in the hat too. ah, yes. That is where I was getting at. I meant somehow we always seem to buy these reasonably priced players, who somehow turn out to be world class players. I agree Mascherano was a world class player when he played for us - no wonder why Barca came calling. Alonso I would put in that bracket as well.

We were lucky to have had a manager like Rafa with an eye for talent.

I can't think of a worse director of football, he'd always be arguing with the owners/directors, suit one week, track suit the next lol

Indeed but he has usually been good at identifying talent early

That's part of the job, but they would have to be players that fit the system. Kopp is pretty good at spotting players himself. His transfer record has been pretty good so far.

I suppose we could also put that Brazilian arse that used to play for us into this discussion, only gleefully, he seems to have gone off the boil a bit since joining those Spanish tw@ts.

We've seemingly turned and sold on out some pretty damned good players from our 'f irst team academy' over the years.
