Carragher will not face further police action, with Greater Manchester Police saying that with no desire from Hughes to prosecute, pursuing the matter would not be in the public interest.

GMP said in a statement: "We have spoken to all parties involved and it was agreed that a prosecution would not be sought in relation to this incident."

Hughes, meanwhile, will be asked to attend to driver improvement course, after police noticed he was using his phone at the wheel of a moving car with his daughter in the passenger seat. These courses act as an alternative to prosecution for a careless driving offence or similar and usually cost between £70 and £120.

I ALMOST feel tempted to use my mobby DELIBERATELY whilst driving now, in front of a rozzer, and testing this out in a court of law!

They have opened up a massive box or worms here, not to mention the large stirring stick in the hornets nest.

Loved the bit where they said they'd noticed him using his phone while driving! What gave it away?

Absolute fukking joke that that irresponsible fukking knob head gets off with virtually fukk all! He put his daughters life at risk for his five minutes of fame. What a proud father he must be the fukking oxygen thief.

The wonders of digital social media. Jamie is a good lad and he had a brain fart moment. But thanks to "smart phones" the whole world gets to say he was naughty and we all get to add to the media coverage and the online ads it generates.

How smart is it that we give this so much attention?

I love Koptalk and I love LFC, but i really hate social media and people who worship themselves online. It is really childish.

Unfortunately some moments as you say are far worse than others and because this is so vile and disgusting it's hit the headlines more, if he had just punched the guy it probably wouldn't of been as bad but things like spitting and biting are no ordinary things...He needs to be left alone now to somehow try to rebuild his life after this...such a shame tho....
