I'm in favour of getting shot of all of these foreign mercenaries and getting in some british talent. In fact, the only foreigners i'd keep would be Agger and Reina.

I would agree the trouble is every decent British player is priced out of the market. Just look at Milner, good he is but 30m he his not. And I heard of figures like 20m for Shawcross, it ridiculous.

Definitely want to keep Agger and Pepe as well.

I keep hearing this excuse about british players being too expensive for us to sign. Firstly, they cost more because they're more effective in the EPL than foreign players.

Secondly, i'm completely against signing other clubs established stars and shelling out silly money. What we need to do is change our thinking back to how it used to be, identify the talent at around 20/21 years of age, pay next to nothing and stick the players in the ressies for a couple of seasons.

If we'd have signed Milner 4 years ago, when he had already shown his potential, we'd have picked him up for peanuts. There are so many players who are doing really well in this league who cost next to nothing and all we can do is deliberate what foreign average joe we're gonna sign.

The trouble is we need him at the stage he is at now, not four years ago. He's not done an awful lot for three years and then blossomed last season.

We can't really afford to carry players to wait for them to blossom which is why we try to buy players somewhere near the finished article

The Ian Rush's of this world wouldn't play in our reserves and then get into the first team. they'd go from Chester, to Hull, then Villa and then be signed by uis when they are at a adequate level

Do you not think?
