We need to keep him at all costs even if it means missing out on 150m. We are slowly building a team around him, Mane and Salah are starting to click together and we have Lallana to come back from injury who was brilliant before injury. We will be playing champions league regularly and we need to keep our best players to have the best chance of winning that as well as the elusive premier league crown. Make no mistake about it, we will be weakened if we sell him as we have too many similar midfielders like Can, Hendersen, Milner, Wijnaldum, he is the only creative one out of those midfielders. Lallana will be 30 in 5 months time. When/If he has an injury free period I can't see him dominating the 1st team. He'll just be a bench warmer. As for building a team around him, I can't remember when he last completed a full game. Also, ever since we got him his performance levels noticeably dipped towards the end of the season.

IF he doesn't want to play for us, then get it done ASAP on OUR terms, January if need be, however, I think they'll be back for Mane and / or Salah next year too.

I would like to keep him if we can, but if we got 150 for him, fair play. You can get 1 top class CB and one top class midfielder for that.

Couldn't care about losing one of the best players in our team? right
He wants to go to Barca but if kept will play. He is an employee the same as Salah who will be looking for a move to one of the big spenders next year if we don't up our game. Will you want rid of him too when he does not want to be here anymore.
And around and around we go.
If we can sell him and replace his output good enough. Anyone thinking he won't be missed are deluding themselves. We have 4 game winners in the team Cout, mane and salah & Firmino.
The rest of the squad is filled with average players and hopefuls. When is the last time Migs keep us in a game or Lovern produced a mom game or when henderson or windadulum grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck when we were getting over ran? Hardly ever if at all. Because they are mostl journeymen who do a job and go unnoticed

I think Paul66's post above is bang on the money here. Without Coutinho our central midfield 3 lack any sort of creativity, Lallana is good but he doesn't have anywhere near the quality Coutinho possesses although he does work harder.
When you sell your best players it sets a precedent to your other players, what will the likes of Salah and Mane think if they see him being allowed to leave?
If he does go we need to have deals in the bag for other players, ideally Draxler, VVD and then a proper central midfielder who can get around the pitch and make things happen!

He wants to go to barca, simple as. He DOEN'T want to be with LFC, simple as.
What we supposed to do? Keep him against his mealey mouthed wishes, letting him sulk and lob his dummy and teddy around?
Great player sometimes, undoubtedly, but we'll survive without him. We'll HAVE TO anyway, so get over it, and move on.
Next?

Has Phil ever been player of the season? What means more to the team, £128 Mill or Phil Cunthino ?

Yeah, at the end of the day the man doesn't want to be here so for me it doesnt matter if he is good or bad for us,I'm moving on because i have to,they will sell him so no use in crying over the spilt milk now sadly. Will we replace him? have we ever? probably more by accident than by design i think.

Yep, you can bang on about keeping your best players all you want, but if he doesn’t want to be here then off he must pop. Get as much as we can and by the looks of it we’ll get way more than he’s worth so that’s good for us. I’d rather not have a player who is not 100% committed to us no matter how good (?) he might be.

The transfer fees will be interesting in January and the summer, to see if they are still inflated, or have settled back down after Neymar/Mbappe/Dembele? I can't see FSG letting Coutinho leave for under £120 million.
