I think it is more competitive now comparing to those years when Brendan in charge.

At least Scum spent quite a lot in recent years to enhance their squad.
Also, thanks to the high broadcast revenue, small teams are now able to spend millions to buy players. Teams are much more willing to spend and have bigger and better squad. The league is not as easy as it was.

The league is not easier, don't talk crap. All teams have more money so it's relatively the same, in fact we also have more money to spend now than what Rodgers had, Rodgers transfer record was 28m on Lallana while Klopp has spend more on Mane, Salah and Ox.

It’s not relative, though. The smaller teams having more money has a significant effect. Lower teams before had to sell their best players, but that’s no longer the case.

No they still sell, didn't Everton sell their best player or Swansea? If you are talking about Southampton and VVD, it more like they wanted to make a point and they got money with a new owner.

Yes, but it will become far less often. Unless you offer silly money they don’t need to sell anymore.

Well, the definition of silly money has probably changed but so has the wages of players. Just look at the table and tell me what you think has really changed in terms of competition, the top 6 are still the same for the last 10 years plus minus some short term surprises

I’m not saying we’ll start seeing the top 6 change, but the gap may shorten. If those clubs no longer need to sell its strengthens them. And this won’t happen overnight rather in the long term.

He also told the likes of Sterling, Sturridge and Suarez to freely bomb forward and score goals, which they did. But that didn't have much to do with fantastic viarious tactics.

Zero trophies won and an embarrasing defence just as we have now.

How's that for a master tactician?

Klopp has been just as bad (probably worse in the league). And if we are saying he is tactically more astute than Rodgers then his training and man-management must be really below par then (even though these are suppose to be his strengths).

How many trophies have we won under Klopp?

And also, Klopp came in as one of the top managers in Europe whereas Rodgers was an inexperienced 39 year-old.

Don't get me wrong, I'm behind Klopp and I still think he has got a lot to offer but right now his record is inferior to Brendan Rodgers'.

Yes in the league, however, if you add Europe, Klopp has been better overall

Yes. Klopp gives much more confidence in Europe and he also got us to two finals in cup game.

For Brendan, his first season is bad but acceptable considering he needs time to implement his philosophy and his second is very good.
However, once he lost Suarez, he was clueless.
His stats in the league may look better, however, it is largely due to his second season success. His stats on his last year before he left is terrible. Losing 1-6 to Stoke and West Ham and also not able to win a top half team in the league. He was sacked only because he had a bad season and he was given another season to prove himself but he still couldnt find a clue in the start of a new season. There was no signs of recovery and he even told the press that it is not a target for him to get us into the CL or win the league.
Considering the much more competitive EPL in this two years, I just dont think Brendan can do any better.

The season after finishing 2nd we were still in contention to finish in the top 4 until the last few games of the season and we ended up finishing 6th I think. We also got to two semi-finals that year.

So it's not really terrible is it? We missed top 4 in Klopp's first season when he finished 8th, under Dalglish where we got nowhere near and in Rafa's last season we finished 6th/7th.

So really you're making stuff up.

It may or may not happen in the long term, but somebody said that competition is higher now than in Rodgers days, which is complete nonsense IMO. Also, if EPL clubs are too rich to need to sell their best players, then the shopping will be done outside the EPL which is not an issue. Sterling went for 49m while Salah was 15 m cheaper

Well yes, at the moment I’d say the competition is at a similar strength, bar maybe City (if they continue as is - which I don’t see happening)

Don't forget the 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield the week before the Stoke game, 3-1 flattered Liverpool in Gerrard's last ever game at Anfield.
