I believe we are seeing the start of the end of Fenway Sports Group (FSG's) ownership of Liverpool Football Club. Whether you oppose their ownership or whether you think they're doing a great job, the mood in the fanbase is changing. But before you crack that can of Carlsberg open, I don't see anything happening imminently, unless the fans continue to rise and do so a little faster.

I'm now seeing previously pro-FSG fans switching camps. I'm also seeing so called 'FSG OUT' fan groups uniting and putting their differences to one side to show a more unified front.

With almost 20 years experience of covering Liverpool FC matters online, I can see when things start to change. It's happening.

Excellent editorial there Dunk, I really hope they sell up, whether it be to that fine lady who is a fan (which would be my preference) or to someone who isn't necessarily a fan of LFC, but is most definitely a fan of football. I see some are suggesting it could turn out to be a worse owner than FSG, and advising that we be careful what we wish for. Well my answer to that is I'd rather go down fighting than live zombie like in a long lingering slow death. I know LFC will never cease to be a fine football club regardless of how unambitious the owners are, but the slow frittering away of the world wide fan base will undoubtably overtime remove this club from the top ranks of European football. That is the slow lingering death that awaits any club being ran in the manner FSG are running this club. We are being slowly bled dry by a consistent failure to provide the resources required to compete at the very top, to me that is unacceptable whatever the reason be it lack of the necessary financial muscle, or lack of ambition it is unacceptable, and I want FSG to accept a reasonable offer and amicably complete an orderly withdraw from this club.

All of what you've said could happen with a new owner or worse. How would that be better?

We won't know so we'll just have to hope for the best if it happens.

It won't help to get new owners if we don't also get the right management, like DOF, CEO, CFO, scouts or the guy that gets all the sponsorships. Man U have more debt than us, but is still richer because they have the right people in place.

To be fair, FSG have been pretty good with bringing money in the club, we have always been woeful before they arrived, I remember hearing stories that the club shop was shut after we won the CL in 2005, so fans/tourists who wanted to go and buy merchandise couldn't.

Its hard to compare to Man Utd as they are a much bigger operation with sponsorship etc, they are a law to themselves really in football with the deals they can make.

But I agree, we need the best people in those roles, from a managing the club from the commercial point of view, FSG seem to be doing well.

As I said I'd rather go down fighting than continue this slow creeping cowardly death under FSG's moneyball recruitment strategy. One Mickey Mouse cup in Seven years, will not attract new fans nor will it replace the natural wastage from the existing worldwide fan base. If we're to consistently compete and challenge at the top, and win an occasional title, together with the occasional cup, we need owners with the ambition and the resources to compete. FSG have shown, for too long now, that they have neither the ambition nor apparently the resources required. Therefor I'm prepared to take my chances with either Ms. Stavely or some other owner with the ambition and desire to compete. I want FSG to do an amicable and orderly withdrawal from this club ASAP.

But there's no guarantee that any new owner will be any better and surely that will mean we suffer the same fate as we would under FSG. You're assuming that we'll get a sugar daddy type owner which is what we'll need as unless we have that kind of money, we'll struggle to compete with the riches of City, Chelsea and Utd.

I'm just trying to urge some caution as who we get next might not be the type of owner we all want.

Even if FSG do sell and we get even worse owners then it doesn't change much - we don't win anything now so may as well live in hope the new ones would be better.

Wilki loves the Quo.

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

I'll take my chances, with a new owner there's some hope, with FSG there's none, as I said I'd rather go down struggling than face a slow lingering cowardly and undignified end.
