Yeah I get that. I just can't get excited about this when we need top players now.
He could be signing next season with us having no ECL football or european football for that matter. We need these types of players now to sustain where we are.

Fantastic news , well done FSG!!! All of a sudden something has changed, £55m bids for lemar , signing Kieta,
But I get the feeling the lemar money was initially for VvD, lemar being coutinho replacement (not like-for-like) and 90% of coutinho upfront money will go for VvD (£90m???)
The only time FSG move this fast and overpay is when they know money is coming in , (Carroll) I'd take VvD,Lemar over coutinho + Kieta next season all day!!!
Ok, so this is why people reserve judgment on FSG, must be klopp was sufficiently convinced after arsenal game that coutinho isn't irreplaceable , and more importantly I think the squad and dressing room is convinced about this too!!!
Hence his departure won't negatively affect ambition should we be ruthless ,
Selling coutinho on its own does nothing, and to be honest even with lemar , I'd be [oops] off if we can't get VvD if we sell coutinho, no excuses
Barca offer us silly money , ergo we offer so'ton silly money , hopefully FSG don't lowball the VvD offer

Yeh I agree and totally see the sense in what you're saying.
Although I do admire Klopp's attitude towards identifying a target and not having a plan B, C or D etc.

True but this is a good move, part of the worry was LFC could've looked a less enticing proposition next season for Kieta, also now he's in UCL, theirs a chance he will get serenaded like bakayoko did , good move from FSG, could've been done a while ago , but oh well atleast it's done, I'm a happy chap, considering VvD money is delegating to lemar , if we sell coutinho we must use that for VvD 3signings , lemar & VvD this season , Kieta next season is very good, but not yet done, would be interested to know what the instalments are for lemar

Perhaps Keita is viewed as a Coutinho replacement, if/when Coutinho leaves next summer. It would make sense if we're planning to keep Coutinho for a year and already have his replacement in place, especially considering how poor we seem to be at preparing to replace big players. Take Suarez for instance, more than 12 months before he joined Barcelona, we all knew he was leaving and the club had done nothing in preparation and ended up buying Balotelli.

Hopefully this means countinho staying for another season (hope he does not do a macmannaman though) with a ready lined up replacement I am happy with that

But we could be a really different prospect next year and not in a good way. He might try and get out of it or worse be forced to join when he doesn't want to as 'better' options are open to him? Hopefully that won't be the case and all is well but you never know.

If Liverpool are committing the best part of £100million, there will be no option for him to get out of the deal.
