Are you not more the past than the future? The question should be if the younger generation is not interested in Football? I doesn't seem to be the case.

They said the bubble was close to bursting when Digger's wages hit the 10k a week mark in 91/92. It's just been a rapid climb with no lulls since.

I think Qatar, who own or have some connection with PSG, paid him his buyout amount to be some kind of sporting ambassador or something and therefore he could buy out his contract and move. It was something along those lines so as they could get around FFP rules.

I agree that football has gone to [oops].
But the transfer fees directly coincide with the TV money recieved.

This is what bothers me. Rather than clubs earning more money and passing on the savings to the fans. (Cheaper tickets, cheaper kits subsidised travel etc.)

We are charged even more to watch mercenaries that we can no longer relate or look up to.

A wage cap will never be introduced because seriously, no one in football would vote for it.

However a transfer cap should be introduced.

No club should he able to spend £198mil on one player.

Take neymar his sole purchase is worth more than the squad of 17 of the 20 clubs in France

The response to Juan Mata's idea of footballers donating 1% of their wages to a charitable cause tells you all you need to know about modern footballers.

The fact that a legend like Stan Bowles needs financial help to pay for dementia care and no one outside his 1970's QPR pals appear to have done anything to help also tells you plenty about the modern day, selfish mentality prevalent in the sport.
