its like a circle, Everton were always the biggest club on Merseyside up until the 70 s, Liverpool then became bigger since the 70s onwards and the way things are going and looking Everton will become the biggest Club again in another 10 years or so, swings and roundabouts I suppose...

That's true in the 1960,s Everton were huge the World Cup was played at goodison being one of the premier grounds in Britain and evertons nickname was the millionaires with the Moores family bankrolling them Liverpool's success was due to nothing unique just good management at that time. Everton could easily overtake us it's not spangles winding us up anyone who things Everton can not overtake us (especially with new stadium and owners) is a complete fool

Yeah, all true there Stan. It would be a very shortsighted and foolish person that would assume we have a god given right to be the biggest football club in Liverpool, especially with FSG in charge. Everton were there before and there's no god given reason why they can't be again. Anyone who knows anything about business, and todays professional football, is a business first and last, will know that if you think you're standing still a d your competition is standing still you're actually going backwards. LFC would be well advised to keep a wary eye on what's going on only yards away. And what's going on is more multifaceted than some seem to think.

I don't think anyone thinks we've a god given right to be the biggest team in Liverpool. But if you're basing that Everton MAY overtake us in the players they've bought then you're wrong. They're all average apart from maybe Keane.

You've still not answered who they've signed that if we had would've made you think we've ambition?

The most interesting thing is the Arsenal situation regarding there second biggest investor Usimonov he wanted to take over at Arsenal badly and failed a few months ago with big Stan holding his majority, this Usimonov is desperate to invest in his own club and Everton's owner is his best mate, if he manages to convince Usimonov to get onboard and invest in the PC then that will be curtains for us because Usimonov is in the top 30 odd richest men on the planet, we will be blown out. If the water if that happens....interesting stuff tho...

How's he bank rolling them?

It isn't about qualifying. Look at Man Utd. They buy Pogba for £90m. Looks awful. £200k per week. This season. He's a bargain.

Matic £40m for a 29 year old. Looks expensive except he will probably win the league and therefore the £100m prize money will make him a bargain.

And he's the type of player we need.

They have a plan and they have a plan B,C and D.

They finished below us and now they've spent money in the areas they need and they will challenge for the league.

We finished below them 25 years ago and still haven't figured out what to do.

Nail on the head , why have we made winning the league this Mount Everest task ??? It's a lot more simple, than that, mourninho Has bought two spines in two seasons ( Bailly, pogba, ibrahimovic - lindelof, matic, lukaku) isn't rocket science

It's been what nearly ten years since our last acquisition of a proper DM in maschcerano???

Yes I am hopeful the Commomwealth Games will come to my City because I think it will be really good for the City in general...

@SPANGO are you an Everton fan ???
Genuine question I'm confused.

Yes that is the passive-toxic attitude that we must fight though ,
in all fairness it can seem such an overwhelming task to fight FSG, considering the town has been fighting bigger battles for justice maybe it's just all too much now... But we must find a way to rally up because we know the moment LFC win the league than a sleeping giant will awake and once the fans get a taste of of glory theirs no stopping Liverpool we will accept nothing less than a dynasty ,
It's just that initial phase , it applies to all of LFC, get our train moving somehow and start forms of protest, online makes things a bit easier ,

Maybe I can invest in car stickers ??? Use it to start a hashtag ,
Not sure what to put on the sticker though, FSGOUT is too damning and won't actually influence FSG to spend me thinks ,
so I'm not sure, have to get back on that

@ so your a tranmere fan then ???

I get your sentiment , the only reason I want to see Everton have success is because it just might be the thing to get LFC to clean up their act, and fans to suddenly have higher expectations ,

Example :
Everton finish 4th : LFC win UCL
Everton nearly finish 4th 13/14 also !!!

We are connected somehow .

Merseyside is a sleeping giant , Everton pushing top4 is good ,

I don't need to wilkij, Spango, just did it above, really you've got to see a broader and bigger picture wilkij, youre thinking way too small, by just looking at recent purchases. Things are rustling in the undergrowth right beneath our feet, while our management focus exclusively on moneyball policies. Time for LFC fans to wake up.
