Klopp isnt given a big bag of money and told to go buy the player he wants.working under the current owners there is a whole load of guidelines he has to work with, for example a large sums of money would only be spent on players with re-sale value.this is what our club is now.we are not a club who buy players purely to make the team stronger.Man U are just about to spend £40m on Matic from Chelsea,he is nearly 29.no re-sale value at all but he will make them better.i cant see us making a buy like that.we were told that we would be competing strongly in the transfer market.well if we are in a competition we are losing badly and if you think things might be different with a new man as the manager then think again.
i dont want to see us spending wildley like Man city have done this window but the truth is they are going to be challenging for the title next season and sadly i dont think we will be.

What a rubbish analogy. At least the BMW has an asking price where as Keita doesn't. The BMW is for sale and Keita isn't. It's not like they said we want £50m and we offered £30m is it?

And you know nothing of any criteria set out for buying players so it's pure speculation. I don't think either of Keita or VvD have any re-sale value at their quoted price.

You know exactly what I mean.making wonderful bids when there is no chance of a purchase is even more crazy, but it has some people thinking they are willing to spend.

Klopp chose Keita so if anyone was wasting their time it was Klopp. FSG stumped up good money regardless of what you say. I know it's all to dupe us idiot fans in your eyes but that's a very expensive game to play and would also mean that Klopp was complicit with it, which I don't believe he would be.

I don't think anyone is an idiot.we just have differing views.i really hope I'm wrong and you will be able to say you told me so.i was the same as everyone else at the start of this window.i thought great things could happen,CL football, Klopp in charge and the ground work on transfers already done.but so far it has come to nothing and doesn't look like it will.lets face it we don't really have good transfer windows anymore, they seem to end in disappointment.

Last years window was good for me. Got us to where we wanted to be for that time. It now seems we'll not compromise on targets which is good to a point but has got us no where.

Every time we've sold a player for big money it has all been re-invested. If it isn't this time it'll be down to Klopp not wanting to buy anyone (or spending months chasing a player who's team will not sell as they don't want or need too!) and not down to FSG pocketing it or spending on the Red Sox.

Coutinho won't be sold anyway unless Barca want to break the world record (as it stands now) which Dunk has always maintained they don't want to do.

In cribs and drabs we still haven't replaced Suarez with a like or better striker have we

There are very few players with that type of ability out there, the ones that are will not join Liverpool for the transfer fee/wages we pay, they will get double what we offer at Man City/Utd/Chelsea etc, the hope we have is to pickup promising players and give them the chance/develop them, like we have with Coutinho & Suarez, then we sell on at a big profit when a Barca come in for them.

We have often sold our best players, often judged at just past their peak, players like Keegan/Rush/Souness, more recently Owen/Alonso/Masch/Suarez, so we have been a selling club over the years.

Every club is a selling club if the player wants to move, look at Ronaldo, Man Utd had to sell him to Real.

How was Keegan past his peak when he went to win the Ballon D'Or at Hamburg and Rush didn't pass his peak as he came back as good, he just didn't adapt to the Italian game. Owen went to Real just after winning his Ballon D'Or. So we have sold our best players in the past, except for Barcelona and Real, everybody does.

I'm not saying they were necessarily past their peak as players, but the management decided they had for the club, Keegan for instance was replaced by a younger Dalglish, so I am sure the management decided Dalglish was better for Liverpool future at that point.

I'm just saying we have always been a selling club to an extent, judging to sell some of our best players and hopefully replace them with better for the longer term future.

That's not me saying I think we should sell Coutinho, I hope we keep him.

Klopp needs to prepare for Coutinho's exit either way, whether it be this window, January's or the 2018 summer transfer window.
He needs to identify suitable replacements and being canny about it, for if we fail to get CL next season because our pool of players to choose from shrinks.

We still need to bring in more quality to this squad because we're already starting to see the minor injuries when the season hasn't even started yet. Clyne, Gomez and Origi are already carrying injuries. We have to create 2/3 viable choices for each position whilst maintaining our shape!
