I don't know who's to blame and to be honest I don't care I care only about the clubs prospects next season and I am struggling to find anything to get excited over. The very bottom line is klopp is just an employee the owners are ultimately responsible for how the club progresses. Klopp is the one choosing the players. Can't blame FSG for him not having a back up especially when it seems they're willing to stump up the cash. Then if we have a poor season coming up then we need to think very seriously about sacking klopp. Football is a serious commercial business these days (Unfortunetly) and the club could be left behind there is a lot of competition these days unlike 15 years ago If we have a shitte season because he didn't strengthen then it's a possibility. I hope not as I really like him but he's not covering himself in glory here for me. There's money there so get some fecking players.

offering large sums of cash for a player that isnt for sale is not the same as spending money.all this crap about FSG are obviously backing the manger with large bids is nonsense.i could go to a BMW dealer and offer £30k for a £50k car.i wouldnt have bought it but at least i would have tried.what a load of tripe. Klopp isnt given a big bag of money and told to go buy the player he wants.working under the current owners there is a whole load of guidelines he has to work with, for example a large sums of money would only be spent on players with re-sale value.this is what our club is now.we are not a club who buy players purely to make the team stronger.Man U are just about to spend £40m on Matic from Chelsea,he is nearly 29.no re-sale value at all but he will make them better.i cant see us making a buy like that.we were told that we would be competing strongly in the transfer market.well if we are in a competition we are losing badly and if you think things might be different with a new man as the manager then think again. i dont want to see us spending wildley like Man city have done this window but the truth is they are going to be challenging for the title next season and sadly i dont think we will be.

Another alternative to trying to replace Coutinho if he did go would be to drop firmino into Coutinhos role and buy a top striker.

We absolutely have to do whatever it takes to hold on to Coutinho this season. Maybe we could afford to lose him next season if we've strengthened by then and in a more consolidated position squad wise.

What a rubbish analogy. At least the BMW has an asking price where as Keita doesn't. The BMW is for sale and Keita isn't. It's not like they said we want £50m and we offered £30m is it? And you know nothing of any criteria set out for buying players so it's pure speculation. I don't think either of Keita or VvD have any re-sale value at their quoted price.

A lot of conjecture on this thread. Klopp highlights his top targets and the owners go out and try to get them. Who knows if Klopp has secondary targets - or if there is a specific time when we switch to them. Saying FSG made the money available so it's Klopp's fault for not getting players - is just idle speculation. No one on this site knows!
As for replacing Coutinho. There won't be a replacement. We never really replaced Suarez, Alonso, Masch, or even Gerrard when they left the club. If we sold Coutinho for 100 + mil - we would not get a similar player in for that amount in this window. It's pointless to even think of selling him unless he forces the issue. Even then - look at Keita and Van Dyk - they are trying to force the issue and their clubs are staying firm. Same with Arsenal over Sanchez. I just hope FSG can learn from Leipsig and be as resolute. I'm not saying it's Klopp's fault we're not getting players but it's his fault that we seemingly have no alternatives. It's his fault that we seem to have been chasing a lost cause for months as if we'd had alternatives I'm sure we'd have moved on by now.

Well yes as we'd all hope a manager of his stature isn't stupid enough to put all his eggs in one basket. But there's been very little chatter of other players unless I've missed it all?

woodburn looks like he is gonna be a midfielder not a striker, long term replacement maybe. There is no replacement for coutinho, be better off making our defence tight as a nut and splashing out for keita ..shut up shop and let in less goals.

The only bright note I can offer is the Liverpool of old (when we were great) you never heard anything until we signed them. I know it's different now but I find it hard to believe the club have not planned multiple options if that's not the case heads must roll
