trust me.

I know a fair few people who would strongly disagree with you, one in particular who wouldn't be with us if not for medication.

I have not known any side effects except they make you a bit tired for first month until you get used to them. There's several options and your doctor can switch to another drug if side effects the ones I am in are called fluoxetine.

For a lot of people it can come down to dealing with the side effects or simply not being able to cope. Depression can be crippling but as you say Stan there's several options these days, I've family who have had a combination of therapy and meds and it's changed their lives for the better, way better.
There's even classes in yoga and meditation that help with coping methods.

Fair play to everyone for their honesty, openness and understanding on this thread.

Mental health has always been a touchy subject until quite recently, particularly amongst men. No one is immune and unfortunately far to many of us suffer in silence.

Keep well lads and there is help available. I find the gym works for me and I do whatever classes are running as much for the company as anything else. But different things work for different people so please don't exclude anything.

Mental halth problems are nearly always a process,if you can learn to recognise the triggers of anxiety and panic early it helps to stop or slow down the onset of depression.
The biggest problem for many I feel is that things go slighty too far as you don't realise your in a state of irrational and sometimes obsessional thoughts.
Medication is useful at the start to get you thinking rationally again then you are strong enough to take on self help.

Only just found this.
Absolutely disgusting.

Their wages are totally irrelevant at a time like this.
I'm sure he'd rather be on a state handout living in a council flat on a run down estate than be in the dreadful mental state he's clearly in.

The daily Fail are in the gutter with all the other parasites.

A minutes applause is happening on the 7th minute as a show of support for the lad at the Tottenham game tonight apparently.

Nice touch.
Hope he hears about it and cheers him up a bit knowing others do care

Its so powerful its a terrible lonely situation to be in Growls,it impacts in every area of your life and because it tends to come and go with varying levels the best thing to do i think is when you are thinking straight thats the time to work on teaching yourself to manage it by reading about it as much as possible and understanding what buttons are pressed to kick it off in the first place.
The help given due to lack of funds and demand isnt for long enough so you have to do it for yourself, the fear factor is awful and people become fearful of the fear itself.

Exactly why I'm grateful to be able to come in here , facebook etc, to completely divert my mind away from the horrible sh1t in my life, and be 'normal', having banter and concentrating on the nicer things in life.....self imposed mind diversionary tactics as I've called it.....
I shudder to think what life would be like without the internet now, as all my so called three physical friends' have been binned as a consequence of them flippantly brushing me aside' when I needed someone to talk to desperately 2 and a half years ago.

I thank yous lot for cheering me up with the sharing of thoughts and banter regarding our team and other general crap that we all love to ramble on about. laugh
