Its quite amusing, neither of us have had any success lately, yet we both employ different methods of placating the punters.

With Spurs they employ the lets announce we have signed a star player to a long contract trick, the latest being Lloris who has signed until 2022.

With us we have a much cheaper method, simply allegedly leak to a few journo's about the latest world class player we plan to sign in January or the summer.

The latest in the long line being Draxler.

Get the fanbase posting all over the net and then lose said player to a club who will more.

Both are cheap as chips policies to run and keep gullible fans happy.

I don't think Spurs and Liverpool are as similar as they used to be, football wise I think we have finished above them about once in six seasons for a start, I think Spurs have the best defensive players in the League and also the most promising young players so from the point of view they have everything going for them however I really think playing home games at Wembley next season will hamper them.
I think you make a good point about how both Clubs go about things off the pitch, Spurs and Liverpool both want to break in to the top four and are both going about it in different ways. Both Clubs have managers in what I would call the second tier, both young, both promising and both developing, none are in the top bracket of a Josei or Pepe but have every chance of getting there in time if they win major trophies. Liverpool have just built a new tier, Spurs are building the finest stadium in the world, Liverpool are securing contracts from Dunkin Donuts And Standard Charter while Spurs have secured an American Football franchise, Liverpool are trading on a reputation from 30 years ago while Spurs are banking on the pull of being in the major City of the World and a brighter future.
I think it's going to be very interesting over the next 10 years whose project or master plan bears fruit, at the moment Spurs and Liverpool are the 5th and 6th best teams in the country wonder who will improve and who will fall away...

Spurs appease the fanbase by handing out new contracts every few months. Kane must have had a new contract press announcement every 5 months so far in his career.

Spurs are twice the club we are and will only get better with their new stadium and the pull of London. I don't think we have a chance to catch them let alone the big clubs

The pull of London is not as big as you make out.

The top 3 footballers in the world Messi, Suarez and Ronaldo have never played in London. And of the 3, 2 were attracted to play in the north with us and Man Utd.

No they haven't but once Spurs get that stadium they will. Also you have West Ham who'll over take us too in that smashin stadium of theirs. Maybe one of those will go there too?

it will be hard to keep pace with Spurs over the next 10 years especially with this new stadium there building and this lucrative American Football Contract, when you throw in the pull of Living in London for any possible top players coming on the market it's easy to see Liverpool will have there work cut out. I look at Liverpool now and I only see us Living on past reputation, what I mean is contracts we secure are mostly on the back of a reputation earned more than a quarter of a century ago and I really don't know how much mileage you can get out of that. Listen If anybody can enlighten me and tell me where they think we can move forward at the same pace as Spurs please do I don't think having a decent manager or the odd qualification for Champions League will do it myself, it needs more than that and more concrete...

We do the best we can. Why worry about things we can't change? Like the fact we're not in London. If nature and circumstances determine that the success in the league will be dependent on location and income then so be it.

In my opinion, as long as we maintain a decent level of competitiveness and success, as well as our identity, our history will still be a huge asset.

Having said that, nothing lasts forever. One day football itself may be a dead sport. Who knows? It's all relative.

So I suggest don't worry about things that our out of our hands, be positive, continue to hope for and anticipate good times and then enjoy the success and forget the disappointments quickly.

"Liverpool leak a name of a world class player"

I'm sure it's not the useless journalists making stuff up and throwing 50names into 5 different papers hoping they get one right

yes I think you make some very good points there, I think location and money will kick in even more over the coming years. Liverpool do have a famous and illustrious name which over the years has served us well however the longer it goes without winning major trophies especially on regula basis then that name will dwindle the longer it goes 15 years ago Liverpool were the second best supported club in the county now they are fourth so this obviously applies. I really don't think just being competitive or going close to winning major trophies is enough to a modern customer you really do need to win it as Chelsea fastest growing fan base in the world over the last 15 years has shown..
