Can I just ask why is it so important for top four, why not he race for top six, it's just none represent success, you can't hold either above your head and celebrate it and you certainly can't go around the city in a bus celabrating.
Are people honestly telling me that they see finishing top four just to make up numbers in a cup competition the following year is really so important... am sorry I find that hard to believe that's the be all and end all for so called Liverpool customers....

It's a building block, DF.

More money next season and hopefully a higher quality player can be purchased too.
firstly thanks for staying on topic,
I understand what your saying but unfortunately that wouldn't apply to Liverpool and there situation simply because you have a manager who would never use the benefits of champions league to buy those types of players, he likes unknowns that he can turn into good players. The other point is last time Liverpool qualified how did it benefit them in the persuit of players? Sanchez didn't want to come and the only players a club like Liverpool can attract are good premiership players like Llalana, Lovren, Markovic and Ricky Lambert who were all signed on the back of qualifying last time so you see there's no point Liverpool playing in it as we are only going to be what we are anyway apart from a few extra bob for John Henry...

The mask has really slipped today hasn't it.

You really are very upset today, I wonder why?

Good attempt at the save at the end there, but you're secret is finally out. grin

Ok then, it helps keep hold of those 'unknowns' who come good, and maybe I should have said being in the competition consistently would help us attract those players.

Lets not forget that we had a manager that was barely heard of outside of England last time. Klopp alone will be able to attract a better calibre of player.

There are 6 teams who all have the quality to finish Top 4:

Chelsea
Liverpool
Man City
Arsenal
Tottenham
Man Utd

Now you just re-arrange them to suit, no one would be shocked with any particular 'order', there isn't a Leicester type in there to shake it up.

For me it will now be about who picks up the least injuries and who spends wisely in January.

We have arguably lost our best player in Coutinho for a month and we have managed to keep in the race, which is a good sign. All the teams above are vulnerable to losing a key player.... Hazard/Costa/Sanchez/Ozil/Kane/Alli/Aguero/De Bruyne/Zlatan/De Gea.

I still see us and Chelsea maintaining the pace in the New Year, The teams in the Champions League and Europa League will struggle with their fixtures as they will be resting players in preparation for big European games, I hope they all have good long runs in Europe to distract them, one of the biggest threats I see to the top 4 is Man Utd or Tottenham winning the Europe League and taking the 4th place finish away, UTD are the weakest of the 6 and may prioritise the Europa League if they start dropping away from the tope 4.

I think something else needs to be taken into consideration when talking about players will come if your playing champions league, yes true up to a certain point but that only applies to your United, Chelsea, Arsenal or Man City who apart from if they have a bad season or two virtually guarantee champions League football each season. If you were a top draw player would you sign for a Liverpool, Leicester or Spurs who will maybe qualify for the champions league once every five or six seasons then probably only make the group stages, not a chance or if they did sign for you then you would have to pay then 300k a week to sweeten the taste...
