Is this the big "MARQUEE" signing for the summer. What a joke FSG have transformed our club into. This isnt a klopp signing i dont think. If I remember correctly last season Mane went 20+ games without a goal. All i know is he scores in patches. Hes nowhere near good enough for Liverpool.

As soon as the sh*t hits the fan next season it will be the nail in the coffin for FSG when we are sitting 20 + points from 1st, and more than like 12+ points from 4th. People are comparing Mane been better than lallana, he is. But is it really that hard to be better than lallana? Is there nobody else out in the footballing world that cost 30 million thats better than Mane? Theres 100's of players better than Mane , worth 30 million and are world class.

And to think i was looking forward to the summer transfer market, just another disappointment.

What makes you think he isn't a Klopp signing when he suits his style of play? I'd also argue that at £30m+, he doesn't suit the old FSG criteria as his resale value wouldn't be much more than that.

Why don't we just relax and see who comes in eh? It's a lot of money for him but will be market value with the new TV deal and we'll see a lot of less inspiring players going for similar fees, see Troy Deeney for one example.

I don't think Mane would come in to replace anyone because we were already lacking pacey wide players although he could play central striker as well.

Top clubs have been sniffing around him I think and if a big club came in for any of our targets we are unlikely to get them so it is so worth the risk in my opinion before other clubs miss out on their first choice targets who are playing at the Euros ans Copa.

Who were you expecting as a marquee signing out of curiosity?

Hes playing for a small team no offence to southampton. We alongside a few other teams have signed players for big money from southampton and so far theres on been 1 good player- clyne. He didnt even cost much.

United in for mhitaryan, city in for aberymang even west hame in for lacazette and who are liverpool in for? MANE. Other teams laugh when they see that because its a joke and it is.

Markovic, lallana, Benteke the list goes on ....have we not learned from signing sh*t players? Take into account as well Benteke was at a small team and scored lots of goals for villa and failed miserably at us. Lallana is the same. 2 cases similar to Mane.


I dont care about tv deals because thats BS. Gundogan went for 20 million. Theres no comparison from him to Mane. Gundogan is ready made world class established player who cost 20 million. We are paying 30 million for a player nowhere near as good as gundogan. Ye i know transfer fees are gonna go up but if we are basing the logic that mane is worth 30 million, then couthino is worth 100 million and joe allen is worth 30 million. Thats southamptons asking price, we dont have to pay it....we shouldnt pay it because its ridiculous.

Take the 30 million, move on and sign a different player. Theres 100's of players ten times better than Mane who are worth 30 million or even less.

Well Red scouser, i expected the club to show a bit of ambition and try and sign a big name player. Let me throw this out there...

Theres 3 of the top of my head and theres 100's more. Thats 3 players we could sign for 30 million all much better than Mane. Theres more players out there all much better than Mane. If they reject us fine, but move on and sign someone with quality and whos established. Mane doesnt tick those boxes.

I dont mean to bash the guy but where the ambition from FSG to make liverpool competitive again?

Care to name the 100's more? Maybe send your CV to the club and see if you can get a scouting job?

If you think Mane is a player good enough for Liverpool, well then i feel sorry for you. If you cannot even come up with players off the top of your head better than Mane suited to liverpool for 30 million theres no point me trying to explain to you what im saying.

As for sending in a CV to get a scouting job, well since you wanna be sarcastic about it, why dont you? I think you would fit well into FSG's plans of overspending on sh*t players and sending the club back into mid table. In case you didn know we only have won a league cup in the last 9 years, which is shocking for a club the size of liverpool. But its ok Mane will win us the league going by your logic. Lets wait and see what he turns out like, then when he fails lets sell him for 8 million and move onto the next mistake. I dont know maybe 30 million mark noble, and repeat the cycle of failure.

And can you point out where I have said I want Mane and where I have claimed to know better than the club? You've claimed scouting prowess and player knowledge have you not? Just trying to give some advice in these trying times.

I trust in Klopp to buy the right players for this club. Some or most may not be inspiring to the fans but if they're his choices I'll trust that. After all, he'll get the boot if it goes wrong won't he. So while not massively inspired, I'm willing to be patient and see what happens. After all, there's still a long way to go in the window and the Euros are still being played so feck all is getting done.

But that is the thing wik, i dont think its a klopp signing. I go back to LB position and we were in for 2 really good players guerriro and hector. We couldnt get them and im glad we didnt overspend, but then we take a massive drop down to a player Ben chilwell who has no 1st team experience because hes never played in the PL. That didnt work out so then we look at championship player Robertson from Hull. Its the constant drop down in player quality that worries me.

Klopp is a fantastic manager but hes not a miracle worker. If i was betting on it, id say FSG transfer committee wont sign Klopps 1st choice targets, they'll go for alternatives.

I think you would agree with me on these things...
- Liverpool dont have money to burn in terms of transfers and constantly buying big
- Mane is a massive risk player for that price, it didnt work for Benteke or Lallana or even Carroll.

Id would rather try and sign someone established, if it doesnt work for whatever reason at least at the end of the day we can turn around and say we bought a player who was already world class when we bought him it didnt work out but the desire to sign someone big was there. An example is Utd signing Di maria and falcao. They were both a disaster at Utd but they were huge world class players.

We have no idea what the structure is now or how it works. It's just speculation so no point tying ourselves in knots about it. The Hector and Guerriro links are also just speculation. You can't believe everything we read.

My personal feeling is that Klopp will be calling the shots. He'll be no ones puppet and could walk straight into almost any club in the world so why would he be? He also doesn't buy big name expensive players. Just look at what he did at Dortmund. If he is calling the shots and he wants Mane then so be it.
