Well if he's marked down from 40m to 10m I can see the Klopp'o salivating right 'in this moment' at such a juicy little prospect, not to mention John Henry's beloved words: Bargain Basement!!

What does it matter what he costs as long as he's good enough? He could cost a fiver for all I care as long as he makes us better. And I'd suggest at 26 that he's not really a prospect.

Yeah sure, if he's good enough the financial side of it never bothers me either, but it seems to bother the 'accountants' on here no end! Personally I doubt he could be marked down from 40m to 10m unless he's lost both legs, including his manhood! Anyway if he hasn't been discounted to bargain basement status, we can forget him as we won't be signing any 40m players, unless John Henry's smoking something damned good over there in Boston! 'On the other hand' if it's 10m take him as signed...unless he wants to be paid of course, and that would put a bit of a damp'ner on things don't you think?

'if he's good enough' therein lies the key, and you don't want to be drastically overpaying for someone who isn't. most of rodgers signing weren't good enough, especially not at the time, but I don't see why we should promote double standards. I agree now is the time to spend though with the extra money from the tv deals, if we can improve for next season and long term.

Anyone would think we haven't spent money the way some go on. £32.5m for Benteke. £29m for Firminho. £25m a piece for Lovren and Lallana and £35m for Carroll all under FSG. Yeah I know, we sold players to get them but they didn't have to re-invest and according to one on here they only want to sell to pocket the money. And yeah I know, none of the players listed are really 100% worth what we paid.

So for me, the price we pay is secondary to how good they are and if we're taking a punt, I'd rather it be a £10m punt than a £20m punt (Markovic anyone?) It just seems to me that some are obsessed with how much we pay for players more than they care how good they are.

Can I ask Herc, would you be happier if we paid 40m for this Harrera fella instead of 10m? Would that make him better?

At the end of the day it doesnt how much a player cost or how much we have spent on players.

Liverpool have not signed a world class player in years. All the players we sign are fall into the category of "potential". They fulfill some of their potential and then they are sold on. The FSG way.

I know in the papers and online its all speculation and rumors the majority of it but Utd chelsea city and arsenal are all been linked with these top players like pogba and moratta and theres a small bit of truth behind their interest in them. We are linked with nuri f*in sahin. Im sorry but that guy shouldnt be in the same sentence as any of the top players, hes decent at best.

When the sh*t hits the fan after we sign some nobody english player like townesend for example for 15 million double what he is worth, FSG come out with all these excuses "we tried to sign reus".

The manager will leave liverpool. Klopp will walk before hes sacked. Hes not gonna stand for any of that BS fsg fed rodgers who went along with it. We need to spend the money in the bank at the minute and not compare selling a player for 20 million and buying 2 for 10 as we spent our transfer money. FSG wont break the bank, they are making too much money from commercial deals. I only hope this season the fans turn on them and we drive them out. sorry for the rank lol

was just about to say- I think the truth is there is very few truly world class players out there though. (man city have made do with augero over the years). you might say barce have 3, but they also have 3 as important midfielders behind them. I'm not making excuses, but spain has been very successful in the CL since 09, winning 5 of the last 8 years. it's also about keeping them world class players, even then you're not guaranteed success

he's right that fsg probably don't mind this cycle of liverpool making stars then selling them off. you can probably just see it happening in the next 2 years, firmino gets big, he's moved on. and I think he has a valid point fsg could hold klopp back from making liverpool better for its football repuation on the field than just making it a better business as they have done

I know where u are going with this and im not been disrespectful to u or leicester. I do like leicester.

But Leicester are gonna lose a lot of there players. Kante vardy etc will probably want moves away. The likelihood of leicester winning the league again is slim if we are been realistic, with the changes in managers and the money at clubs like city etc.

Buying big players for liverpool is a statement. We use to buy big players and it sent out a message to the rest of the league, "we are liverpool, we are a huge club and we are still here at the top level".

We can get into discussions and hindsight is a great thing but if we are gonna be realistic about it. 20 million for lallana isnt a statement. Signing Ings for 8 million isnt a big signing. (I like Ings btw). Id sacrifice paying 50 + million for 1 top player rather than 1 henderson 1 lallana and 1 joe allen.

Utd did it with Di maria, although he was a disaster the "INTENT" was there. They made a big name signing. Chelsea did it with Fabregas. City with DeBruyne.

What im trying to say is who do liverpool have to answer for with? Lallana, henderson benteke?

I hope they back klopp. We have a fantastic manager within our resources. Do i think they will? No is my answer. It will be another set of excuses.

Lastly make no mistake about it, if we dont get top 4 this season or at least really compete for it up until the end of the season we will be stuck 7/8/9 for the next few years, until we are sold to someone with more money than sense.
