Hadn't thought of it like that. Fergie hasn't anything to do with UEFA has he? grin

Definitely. Especially as I read the substance might not have been on the list anyway!

Crazy situation, if he's not done anything wrong Uefa have a lot to answer for as we have missed one of our best defenders/partnership for the biggest game of the season, we can't use that as an excuse for losing the game, but surely it had an impact on the team.

Strange thing is they are going to make a decision in the next few days? so France could select him for Euro 2016, then he could get a 2 year ban next week??? you'd think the 30 day provisional ban would be long enough to sort all this out, now it is all in limbo.

If he has taken something that is not on the banned list then it doesn't fukking matter what he has tested positive for. It may as well have been a cheese and marmite sandwich because what he ingested was not banned.

Two things that are very unsatisfactory about this are firstly that this has involved something at Old Toilet again and secondly we were deprived of a player who could have played in the final.

If he has done nothing wrong UEFA will have to have some top fukking lawyers because there is no doubt that we could sue them over this for millions.

When a team fields an ineligible player they get fined or in cup competitions forfeit the tie or have it replayed. These rules like a coin must have another side and I think UEFA will be absolutely 5hitting themselves because if they have got this wrong not only have they deprived us of a player they will also have deprived France of a key player in their preparations for the Euros.

Clubs have a responsibility to ensure they stick to the rules but governing bodies have to ensure their house is in order.

Of course if the test or substance stands then as a club we will have done the right thing by standing our player down ahead of any sanctions. But if there has been no wrongdoing the club could sue for potential loss of revenue. It is not just the final we lost. We were deprived of selecting a player for the build up as well. Potentially we lost a league position or two.

The difference in revenue between no European football and a place in the Champions League is massive. If this positive test has no legs then UEFA are fukking screwed.

Could we potentially sue for a spot in the CL if they have screwed up?

If it was some kind of performance enhancing drug then fair enough, but what if it was diet pills? sure, it's still stupid on his part but forgivable imo.

A most excellent shout now it seems.

Probably not. Almost impossible to parachute us into a competition and grossly unfair on all other clubs for another team of our standard to be introduced as we did not qualify.

But I could see us going for a massive financial payout instead.
Mistakes in business cost money. There is a lot of money in football. I could see us going for £50m + from this.

do we have the balls (as a club) to sue for 50m?

i highly doubt it.

i think they fuckked up in the first place. not extending the ban is perhaps a settlement (middle way) which could help the player and the club continue and let UEFA save grace (by bullshitting about including or removing that drug from their list)

and since our stance as a club has been that its on the player individually and we didnt contest it or take it up with UEFA so that leaves Sakho. hes supposed to be just happy that he can play in Euro and next season,so hes expected not to sue them on personal level as well.

i think thats how its gonna end.
