Liverpool have not come near the GA numbers that we currently experience as the norm, whilst Achterberg has been here. Not since that dreadful idea of pairing Evans & Houllier together in the 98/99 season have we conceded as many - 49 goals!
Achterberg has evaded the sack for far too long...he should have gone when Pascoe & Marsh went, but he still manages to evade the sack even when Rodgers, Driscoll & McAllister got the boot!
He must have something juicy on Henry or Werner... there's no other possible explanation!

Players who openly admit they need CL football to even consider coming to us can f*ck right off IMO.
It's up to them to take us there - not the other way around.
He should just shut up and come here and show what he can do - or just bugger off! +1! And I've never heard of him to boot.

It's up to them to take us there - not the other way around.
He should just shut up and come here and show what he can do - or just bugger off! I agree with this, but I also think its good when a player wants to play in Europe/be ambitious, there are too many players on the gravy train who will sit in the reserves or on the bench taking the big bucks, look at Enrique turning down the chance to get games at Newcastle or stay and not get games because we pay more on his contract. No doubt Liverpool will pay more than Mainz, so he could have just leaped at it and got his pay doubled or tripled overnight.

They were discussing him on Redcafe and a supposed Mainz fan was on there saying that he's definitely better than mignolet, and maybe not too far off de geas level. Not seen him play myself so can't comment but if he's anywhere near de geas level then get him signed, at 22 he should only get better

Looks like klopp's taken the next step anyway. Can we name karius's strengths and weaknesses? or is that insignificant because klopp thinks he can do the job

Of course, he could be crap for all I know. Just assumed that if the guy that said it really is a Mainz fan then he'd hopefully have a good idea what he was talking about (even if looking through rose tinted glasses).

It's pointless spending good money after bad on any Goalkeepers, until we get rid of the pish poor GK Coach, John Achterberg.
Brad Jones, Peter Gulacsi, Danny Ward, Simon Mignolet & Adam Bogdan have all been sullied by this clown.
