He's been fairly effective in his last few games. He's clearly not a bad player. I just wish he could adapt better. He's a useful plan b though.

He gives us a good option to switch to 41212 against teams that try to park the bus, the kind of team we struggle against. But he should never be played up top alone in our system.

I won't be too bothered either way if he stays or goes

What????

laugh

Give me some of what your smoking please!

I said he should. I never said he is.

He has all the qualities. The man is a mountain with a bullet of a strike and impossible to get off the ball.

I think he's either devoid of confidence or he has just forgot how to play football

Do I think we should sell him? NO.
Why? Because he seems a great plan B off the bench.
Is he an expensive plan B? Yes, no doubt about it.

Totally agree with you mate!

If Klopp doesn't want to play with 2 strikers (as it seems), it is good to have a different type of player to sub on instead of the 1:st choice, or even (as the other day against Chelski) as a complement to him - and finish the game with 2 striker who can run amok and cause more problems. Even better then if they aren't so similar to each other.

that's something I wanted to talk about our central attacking midfielder can benefit from playing behind benteke more than our other strikers (?) lallana and firmino have had good games behind him in those back to back 1-0 wins when he's played as the lonestriker, maybe if we played more of a narrow 4231. coutinho also had a good game behind him away at arsenal

because like I said it's amazing how many times we've got him in 1v1 situations considering his lack of speed

me either, it's probably better path if we don't stick with him. I would rather klopp carried on turning around the careers of the many other players other than the so far fairly failed career of our most expensive signing

what are his strengths though, because he only scores 30% of his goals from crosses/headers at his former club. I read one article saying he's no more proficient at scoring from crossing than your average top flight teams who convert 31% of their crosses since the beginning of the PL on average, maybe because he can be easy to mark. While I accept he benefits from width, also suiting his poor passing game, we need to focus on going forward not just building a team around benteke. Liverpool can keep him and not cash in, but I wish we'd stop talking about our style not suiting ben, we knew it wouldn't before we signed him. As for someone who can take set pieces, that would benefit our whole team if we had someone who could deliver on a sixpence, I'd hope he could be a set piece threat, according to the article I was reading he converts 12.8% of his set pieces before he joined us, so I'd hope that would continue for ben, or would he just end up fouling his marker, like he does so many times in open play.

Depends who's available to come in and Klopp's summer budget.

I'd like to keep him actually as there's a great player there somewhere, but I think he's on his way. We've got other options, plus Firmino, and when fit Sturridge is better.

Tough to know what will happen. Maybe JK wants rid of Ben and Danny and has a WC player lined up...

If Klopp needs the money to buy TOP players in GK, LB and CM positions, I'd rather sell him for £30m and spend it there.
If not, like Ninja said, I'd rather have him than not.

I actually think he would suit Italian football, where there's more build up play at a slower pace. He's got talent, without a doubt. But in saying that I don't think he can handle the pace of the prem. He definitely isn't a one on one player, and while he can hold the ball up, he's often the last man which slows down the attack and gives oppositions time to recoup.

We'll benefit from having a poacher, someone who knows where to be at the right time but can also make a run in the gaps and beat a keeper. Like Hernandez, Volland or even Michy. Unfortunately, while Big Ben can score great goals, he also influences the play in a negative way because of his style.

Keep benteke get rid of sturidge. Let's look at it from a logical point of view. Yes he has all the tools big strong has pace can header the ball can score goals. He's scored 10 goals even though he hasn't played well. Keep him for another season see if he can adapt. Look at when he was at villa he bullied the teams he was unplayable.

Look at lovren, lallana, Lucas, can, all players who were not successful in their first season and now look at them we're singing them praises.

I want to give benteke the chance he deserves. There's one player I hope he can hit the heights off if not better in recent times he was also a very powerful striker and he was the star in a team full of stars... Drogba I hope he can be our drogba he wasn't a success until 18months after his move?

I don't think he will accept to be a sub and for us that's an expensive sub even for non accountants. This is why I think he will be gone provided we get a good fee
