Kolo Toure got a 6 month drug ban, Ferdinand got 8 months for not taking a test, so they are pretty heavy bans (rightly so), so if he's found guilty I am guessing you are talking missing the rest of 2016 minimum.
Also unfortunate Kolo is a current Liverpool player, as you can imagine the links that will be made, also doesn't help Kolo with his new deal, wouldn't surprise me if the club wanted to draw a line under any references like this, substantiated or not, so no deal for Kolo.
Leaves a bad taste in the mouth after the recent good performances/results.

At the time world anti doping guidelines were 2 years ban, FA decided to reduce it to 6 months as it was ruled he didn't take a banned substance on purpose but didn't do enough to check. Couple of differences, the doping guidles are now 4 years not 2 and it will be Uefa ruling on it. Offense seems pretty much the same though. Taking a supplement without checking. Pure stupidity really. Best case scenario is a 6 month ban.

Yeah, that's why I said six month minimum, could be longer, there are no recent precedent's for this and the rules have changed as you stated. I would have thought the club would want notifying and check everything a player takes for medication/supplements, so makes you wonder how this has happened. Real shame, he's looked much better recently and we finally got a settled looking defence, if he gets a 2+ year ban we can't even sell him, if the club sacked him we would lose £18 million transfer fee, I guess we'd save the wages over the contract. Klopp must be fuming, lets hope he's cleared.

Yep. Could sack him and sue him for 18 million like Chelsea did with Mutu. I was wondering which of Sahko and Lovren Klopp was going to drop for Matip. At least we've got the replacement on a free.

Yeah, I Expected Matip would be coming in to replace Toure or Skrtel, we need 4 top flight Centre Backs, so that would have been Lovren/Sakho/Matip/Skrtel or Toure with Gomez and Llori as extra cover.
Looks like Caulker will not be kept, he's hardly got a game, played mainly as a forward !!!! I thought he might have been a decent signing.

If it's just for diet pills I find it very stupid. It's not like he's taking steroids. Apparently he'll be likely submitting a second test on Tuesday. No implications to the club (aside from him potentially being ineligible), but not good.

It was a different type of substance, and Kolo was given a reduced ban because the board felt it was an honest mistake. These are things you get over the counter at a pharmacy. They're not illegal substances or even prescription ones.

Could it be that Sakho is pleading ignorance in not knowing about the ingredients of something he's possibly taken...because he hasn't taken anything illegal? The test was conducted at OT! "Sakho's issue relates to a post-game test following Liverpool's Europa League tie at Manchester United on March 17".
Let's face it how hard could it be for one of them wretches from there to spike a test. Won't be the 1st time or last time MU have used despicable means to try and stop us - Suarez stitch up for racism, ANYBODY?

Isn't this banned ingredient from a possible fat burning product? Surely it would be a product that he's taking for a significant enough amount of time, possibly covering a period where he took a previous random drug test/s? Did anything show up? All hypothetical questions BUT need answering none the less.
I find it convenient the positive test was taken at OT!
